Combine two of your favorite things into one with these Smartphone Food Stands Food Stands for Smartphones. Each one is designed to look exactly like an appetizing food item that bizarrely holds your phone upright. The holding your phone part isn’t strange, the fact that it’s a food item doing the holding is. At least for me.

Pancake Cake: It’s What’s for Breakfast

I’m kind of a dessert purist. For example, I like plain cheesecake – not one that tastes like pumpkins or anything else. And desserts that try to imitate other desserts usually bug me – like cinnamon apple pie flavored yogurt. Blech. If I can’t eat an actual slice of apple pie, why bother? But here’s one rare instance of a sweet treat masquerading as another that I actually approve of.

pancake cake

While this might look like a stack of delicious pancakes, it’s actually a honest-to-goodness cake. It was made by Cindy Reynolds over at Monkey Treats Bakery, who clearly makes treats for humans too. It looks so real that it’s almost impossible to distinguish form a stack of actual pancakes.

I’m so ready to sink my fork into this thing, that I’d even consider having cake for breakfast. You could even put a few strips of bacon on the side. I won’t mind.

Star Trek: Into Breakfast

Breakfast. The final frontier. These are the voyages of morning hunger…

Shall I go on? No?

Nothing beats pancakes in the morning. Well, unless we are talking about pancakes made into the faces of the Enterprise crew. Pancake artist Nathan Shields of Saipancakes created these awesome Federation Flapjacks.

star trek pancakes
You have edible versions of Spock, Kirk, Uhura, Sulu, Chekov, and McCoy – all ready for butter and syrup. This is really the best way to start your day. I would drench them all with syrup and eat all of their faces like the ultimate Star Trek villain. Khaaaaaan!

Then I would make an Enterprise pancake and finish that up. I’d top it off with a Klingon Bird of Prey, but with it’s cloaking device, it would escape my mouth. Great job, Nathan. I’ll even forgive you for misspelling “Checkov.”

Nathan is a really amazing pancake artist. He can make all kinds of awesome Star Wars creatures with pancake batter. But he can do more than just Star Wars. Over at his blog he has a ton of other amazing pancakes on display. I had no idea you could get so much detail on a pancake. Just look at Yoda and Vader.

Check out the video above for some pointers on making these kinds of flap-jacks and head on over to Saipancakes to see many more of his edible creations. Now I want some pancakes! Thanks a lot Nathan!
