Samsung Robotic Vacuum Integrates with Amazon Echo: “Alexa, Suck.”

Samsung has unveiled its Powerbot VR7000, a robotic vacuum that you can control with your Amazon Echo. In fact, Samsung says that all of its Wi-Fi-enabled Powerbot vacuums will work with Alexa. We don’t know exactly what you can command your bots to do, but I wouldn’t expect anything other than simple stop, go and get to work sort of commands.

This version is 28 percent slimmer than past models, so it should fit under your couch more easily. It will also get as close as a half inch to a wall and avoid objects as small as a quarter inch, due to the front placement of the wide 11-inch brush and “FullView Sensor 2.0.” It also boasts a self-cleaning brush, room contour mapping, adjustable suction levels and full remote control with a smartphone using Wi-Fi. Robot vacuum aficionados and enslavers will love these upgraded features. Hopefully it translates to a cleaner house.

Nothing on price or availability yet, but it will show off the vacuum bot at CES 2017, which opens to the media on Tuesday, January 3rd. Sounds like it doesn’t suck. Well, it does, but you know what I mean.

The handle has a 360° ball & socket joint, allowing you to maneuver the broom however you want it. What gives it an edge is that you can snap off the handle and work the broom remotely via the app. Great for hard to reach places, or if you’re just a lazy little sloth like me!

Lucy Solar Light Tracks The Sun, Keeps Your Home Illuminated

lucy_solar_light

As the earth spins, the rays of sun entering your home come in at varying angles throughout the day; this is a phenomenon we’re all used to. But what if you wanted the light of the sun to illuminate a specific section of your home? The Lucy Solar Light is a robotic mirror that tracks the sun and automatically adjusts its angle in order to keep the reflection on a specific spot (like on a plant, for example). Simply place Lucy where you want it, set it to reflect the sun’s rays on the spot you desire, and let it do its thing. Its Italian design is meant to look good in any decor, and its sun tracking abilities mean that you could save some money on traditional lights. Of course, modern design and high tech abilities often translate in higher prices and Lucy is no exception: you’re expected to pay $199 for it as a pre-order, though a shipping date isn’t specified.

These Robotic Beds Carry You Everywhere

Life can be hectic and stressful. Some days you don’t want to get out of bed. If only we could stay in bed and still go everywhere we need to go. Well that dream has come true thanks to artist Carsten Holler.

two_roaming_beds_1zoom in

For his “Decision” exhibition at the Hayward Gallery in London, he created this interactive work called Two Roaming Beds. These beds are robots that automatically carry museum visitors around the exhibition while they sleep. Maybe our future is just like this. A world where robots just whisk us from one place to another. All we have to do is get fat and lazy – which will break our robots and leave us stranded.

Obviously we don’t need to get fit and active. We are just going to need stronger robots. Our future is looking kind of sad guys.
