Smiley Face Screws and Screwdriver: Smile, You’re Screwed!

There are many different screw head types. Like those screw heads on game consoles that are designed to keep you out. Those should have grump faces to represent them, whereas Yuma Kano’s design is all about fun.

Screw is a collaborative project between him and Komura Seisakusho, a screw factory in Japan. The idea is that his screws are “a product that can bring joy.” If you were taking something apart and didn’t expect to see a screw like this, I imagine it would make you smile.

Of course you need a smiley face screwdriver to screw them in and unscrew them. Who says tools can’t be fun and functional?

SCRW Stools Will Screw You Over If You Don’t Screw ‘Em Right

I have this huge thing for seemingly ordinary and everyday stuff you can interact with. Take, for example, the SCRW Stool. I think it’s pretty obvious from the name what these are and where its designer drew inspiration from.

SCRW StoolThe designer behind these stools is Manuel Welsky. You start out with two different pieces: the metal screw head (which serves as the stand), and the solid cork stool (which serves as the seat.)

Put 2 and 2 together in your head and you probably already know what to do in order to form your very own SCRW stool. How high or how low the stool ends up is up to you, since it all depends on the number of times you turn the cork around.

If you’re interested, you can drop Manuel a line to ask about how you can purchase his SCRW Stools.
