A Beer Claw Machine Is the Best Claw Machine

Forget cutesy stuffed animals and cheap toys that slip through the fingers. Beer is what you want to grab in a claw machine. Mark from Victoria, Australia turned a regular claw machine into be a beer claw machine. Mark is my new hero.

beer_claw_machine_1

After a hard day, there’s nothing better than grabbing a cold brew… With a claw. The only problem is, after you’ve had a few, it gets harder and harder to grab another as your faculties get hazy. Check out the video to see it in action.

Sadly this machine is not very gentle with the beer, so it will probably explode in your face when you open it. That’s okay. At least you caught your own beer in the wild.

LEGO Burger King Machine Dispenses an Entire Combo Meal

AstonishingStudios makes some great LEGO vending machines. If only we could have some of them in our neighborhoods to dispense fast food. Their latest creation is a Burger King vending machine that serves up Whoppers, fries, and even dispenses Coca-Cola. Have it your way! As long as your way is room temperature food and flat soda.

This vending machine is powered by a LEGO Mindstorms module hidden in the back. There’s even a motorized cash slot for collecting five bucks before giving you access to the fast food. It’s a whopper of a machine!

I really wish we had these everywhere, with the capability to keep the food hot and the drinks cold.

Making America Great Again: The First Pizza ATM in North America

The world is a much better place now; a place of hope. That’s because Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio has installed the first pizza ATM in North America. I know. I feel it too. It is enough to bring a tear to your eye.

pizza_atm_1zoom in

The machine was built by Paline and it holds up to 70 pre-cooked pizzas of many varieties at one time. You just place an order and a pizza is moved from the internal storage to a convection oven where it finishes cooking and is ready to serve in three minutes. Oh yes. This is change we can believe in.

I don’t know about you, but for the first time in a long time, I feel great about my country. God bless you, pizza ATM. God bless you.

LEGO McDonald’s French Fry Vending Machine: I’m Lovin’ It!

There are desk toys and then there are desk toys. Put this McDonald’s French Fry vending machine on your desk and you will always have fries. This awesome LEGO machine dispenses fries along with a packet of ketchup.

This fun vending machine is yet another awesome Mindstorms-powered creation from Astonishing Studios. Just put in a dollar in quarters for each serving. It would be awesome to have this in the office with you so you can charge your coworkers for their snacks.

I’m kind of surprised that McDonald’s hasn’t figured out a way to create their own fry vending machines that serves fresh hot fries and puts them everywhere. Get on that McDonald’s, unless you want us all to build our own. Of course these are cold and probably not very fresh.

LEGO Machine Dispenses Cheerios and Milk

It’s 2016, so where are our robots that can pour us a bowl of cereal each morning? Sadly, we still have to do it ourselves. If you want a cool machine to make you cereal, you can still build one yourself, which is what Astonishing Studios did.

lego_cheerios_machine_1zoom in

They created a coin-operated machine that dispenses a bowlful of Cheerios with milk.  Just put some money in, watch it fill the bowl with cereal and milk, then grab a spoon and you are good to go. Check out the video to see the vending machine in action.

The LEGO Mindstorms-based machine is smart enough to reject bad coins, and also has a compartment where spoons are stored. Awesome job. Now we can be even lazier in the morning. That’s a good thing.

The World’s First Car Vending Machine

Need a car? Just stick a coin into the slot. This machine will activate and pull a car out of its inventory, delivering it to you. You can watch it descend to meet you on ground level. Now that is a vending machine. Carvana is the world’s first automated car vending machine. Back to the Future never predicted this.

carvana_1zoom in

Even though this is more of a promotional gimmick than a genuine vending machine, I like the idea, which is to go online and buy your car, then come to the Carvana facility in Nashville, Tennessee and pick it up with a special coin designed just for this machine.

Carvana CEO Ernie Garcia explains:

Once the buyer purchases their car online, they go to the Carvana Welcome Center where you’re given a coin. They put the coin in a machine, shaped like a vending machine slot, and that starts the vending process.

First your car is retrieved from the 20 vehicle glass tower. Then it’s moved through the machine and down a drive way to one of three delivery bays for buyers to pick up. And if they don’t like something about it, there’s a seven day return policy.

Whatever it is no questions asked. Six days later we will call you to remind you you only have one day left on your return policy. You can return it, swap it off for another car or just wash your hands of the transaction and say ‘maybe I’ll come back next time.’

These guys know how to sell cars. I want to buy one just to be a part of the process.

LEGO Animatronic Coin-Op Machine

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never seen a LEGO machine like this. It’s a custom built animatronic coin-operated machine and it is a lovely sight to see it in action. Just put your coin in and watch the little LEGO people come to life.

lego machinezoom in

The whole thing is basically a construction site. It’s one of those things that the kid in us loves to watch. The seven animatronic items are:

  1. Crane moves up, down, left, right, with the joystick
  2. Backhoe is lifting a section of the water pipe up and down
  3. Mining car goes in and out of the tunnel
  4. Welder is welding away at the base of the crane
  5. Worker spins around as he helps put in the water main
  6. A jewel/cave robber and his friend are working the same mine as the construction workers
  7. Dumptruck lights flash as the crane loads him up

Check it out in action in the videos below:

You can buy it for $6,500 (USD) from Etsy seller All Things Pretty Store.

Vending Machine Costume only Accepts Candy

Like many parents, Redditor MoobyTheGoldenCalf must have told his son that he can be anything he wants to be. Because for the past few Halloweens, his son has requested to dress up as a variety of inanimate objects, from a traffic light to a mailbox. This year he wanted to be a vending machine. Request granted.

MoobyTheGoldenCalf says the window is made of Plexiglass, so don’t even think about stealing the kid’s snacks when he appears on your doorstep. As you can see his hands are inside the costume, but he can still take candy through the money slot. The candy will fall to a container behind the “Push” sign. MoobyTheGoldenCalf also placed mirror film at the back of the machine, creating a one-way mirror – his kid can see out but his face and body will be hidden.

Kid, I say you up the ante and ask to be a convenience store next year.
