Volpin Props Building Epic Futurama Planet Express Ship Models

Fans of Futurama will immediately recognize the image below as the Planet Express ship. It turns out that maker of all things awesome, Volpin Props, is working on a set of three custom-built Planet Express models, and they’re shaping up to be great as we’ve come to expect from expert propmaker Harrison Krix.

From the video posted on Volpin’s YouTube channel, we find out that the ships even have illumination built in, operated by an Arduino Pro Mini controller. Those tail lights look especially sweet.

Ok, that looks pretty awesome to me. I can imagine tiny little versions of Fry, Leela, Bender, Zoidberg, Hermes, Professor Farnsworth and Amy Wong hanging out inside, causing all sorts of interplanetary mayhem.

Great job as usual, Harrison!

Halo Needler Replica is Epic Volpin Propage

We have seen some incredibly cool props come from the replicating geeks over at Volpin Props. One of my favorites was the Terrible Shotgun from Fallout 3. The latest build to surface is definitely of the quality we expect prop maker Harrison Krix, and this time it comes from the Halo universe. What you see here is a realistic replica of the Needler gun complete with lights and sound effects.

The prop was commissioned for Tested, and it’s incredibly cool. According to Volpin, the replica required 15 molds to cast its 24 individual parts. All told, there are 54 LEDs used to make the needles and other components glow.

It’s not exactly a lightweight prop with the finished product weighing in at about 10 pounds. The replica pistol also plays three different Halo sound effects. If you want to see how the replica was built, you need to check out the time-lapse video below, and read the build log over on Tested.

Fallout 3 Terrible Shotgun Gets Real

If you aren’t familiar with the Terrible Shotgun, it has the second highest damage of all the weapons in the Small Guns category in Fallout 3. It also has a larger spread than normal shotguns. It is most effective in close-quarters. In fact, it is terribly deadly up close.

It’s an awesome weapon and so it’s no wonder that Harrison Krix at Volpin Props was commissioned to make this amazing replica for the web series Nuka Break. The barrel and heat shield are made of aluminum. The trigger mechanism too as well as the sight and forward pump piston.

Two drum magazines lock into place with magnetic catches. The cocking lever on the right side is spring loaded, like the trigger. Fully assembled, the whole thing weighs over 8 lbs. The detail is pretty amazing as we’ve come to expect from Volpin.

Sadly, this replica weapon does not actually fire real rounds, but you can’t have everything.

Skyrim Nord Helmet Replica: FUS RO DAYUUM!

So you’ve managed to replicate the replica weapons made by Harrison Krix aka Volpin Props. Time to defend yourself with some armor, particularly the Ancient Nord/Draugr Helmet from Skyrim. This replica is of the female version, but even if you’re a man that doesn’t really matter because look:

It’s a helmet that any warrior, man or woman, would be honored to wear. To craft it, you need 157 golf balls, Magneto’s helmet and a deer that has just gored its sworn enemy in the face. Just kidding. I think. I didn’t read all of Volpin’s guide so you might really need some or all of those.
