Endangered Whale Testicle Beer: WTF?

So, next week I’m headed to Iceland for a few days. I plan to have some fun and drink some beer, but I don’t plan to drink this new Icelandic beer, because it has endangered Fin whale testicle in it. I like to try as many unusual beer styles as I can and I often like to joke that I plan to be the anti-Noah, meaning that I plan to eat two of every animal. Of course, I couldn’t actually do this; I think conservation is too important and I just fucking love cheetahs too much (Hint, my birthday is in August).

That’s why I won’t be drinking this new Icelandic beer. It’s brewed by Stedji for the upcoming Thorri festival. Many Icelanders claim that their whaling operations are done sustainably, and therefore do not abide by the IWC’s commercial whaling moratorium. Regardless of the political maneuvering, I don’t plan to partake of any whale ball juice.

Plankton Pot Strainer

whale strainer Plankton Pot Strainer
Making pasta can be a whale of a job. You’ve got to get the water out without losing your carb source. Like a whale strains plankton through it’s mouth but lets water pass through, so does this Plankton Strainer. Food stays in, water stays out. Straining out water has never been so much fun.

This creative kitchen accessory is made of plastic yet is boiling water resistant and dishwasher safe. It comes in green, blue, and gray just like real whales. Ok maybe I’ve never exactly seen a green whale but I’m not marine biologist like my friend George C. is. Although to be honest, I’m not really sure he is one either. No matter this is a great way to get cooking.

Protecting Our Whales

One of the reasons why whales get stranded at beaches is because the signals that they send out gauge the depth of the waters may be distorted in areas where the shores are gently sloping. What happens is that they lose their way and bearings and end up washed onshore. The Whale Whispererr hopes to fix this problem.

This self-sufficient device (harnesses power via solar energy and from the waves), needs to be placed near coastlines where whales usually end up getting disoriented, due to the gentle slopes in the sea bed. They help in emitting the right feedback to the sonic signals sent out by the whales, thus preventing any accidents. Cool!

PETA Protests Whaling In Assassin’s Creed IV

Looks like animal rights group PETA has found something else to be upset about. Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has the animal rights group in an uproar over portrayals of whaling in the game. A game which has not yet been released – which may or may not feature whaling in the game.

Whale

All the group knows for sure is what we know – that in a screenshot for the game, a whale is seen – and whaling is rumored to appear in some form in the game. So apparently video games not only cause violence, they could potentially cause you to go out and kill whales. Apparently, that is what they think…

Whaling – that is, shooting whales with harpoons and leaving them to struggle for an hour or more before they die or are hacked apart while they are still alive – may seem like something out of the history books, but this bloody industry still goes on today in the face of international condemnation, and it’s disgraceful for any game to glorify it. PETA encourages video game companies to create games that celebrate animals – not games that promote hurting and killing them.

I think that any civilized person alive today hates that whaling still goes on in this day and age, but give it a rest PETA. There are real animal crimes that you could be investigating. Everybody needs to stfu and stop blaming video games for things that they wish were different in our world. Thank God I’m usually too busy playing games to pay much attention to these idiots.

The Whale Tail Stand for the iPad

whaletail ipad The Whale Tail Stand for the iPad
Your iPad can now be whale-tailing in public. The Whale Tail and Vacuum Dock from Octa adds a flexible whale tail shaped stand to the back of your iPad (or other inferior tablet). The shape allows you to prop up your iPad in most any position.

The whale tail itself is detachable from the vacuum dock to allow compatibility with any future products from Octa (elephant ear? Tigger tail? cobra?), although right now it’s just the whale. The vacuum dock uses a suction type attachment to stick firmly to the smooth backside of your iPad and you can even use the whale tail as a handle with the fins keeping it firmly between your fingers.

Interesting stand for the iPad and you can buy it directly from Octa for $49.95.

Killer Whale Personal Submarine

killer whale submarine 650x650 Killer Whale Personal Submarine
This submarine is totally killer. This is not a concept or design idea, you can actually buy a Killer Whale Submarine from Hammacher. Killer Whale Personal Submarine This sub holds two people and breaches and submerges from the water just like an Orca whale. The sea was angry that day my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup at a deli. It’s powered by a 255hp Rotax axial flow engine and can hit 50mph skimming atop the water and 25mph underwater.

A pair of control levers let you do rolls and dives while dual foot pedals control the steering and thrust. If you owned this submarine you would be getting so much action they would call you Free Willie for two reasons. Hey is that an iPhone dock on the dashboard too? Sold! Really cool vehicle and I’m sure you’re already reaching for your credit card to buy one but first you probably want to know what the damage will be. Try $100,000. If you have to ask….
