Flatlight Candle Holder: Is It 2D or 3D?

Looking for a way to dress up your dining table, but don’t want to go with an ordinary candleholder? These unique candleholders are definitely conversation starters, since you’ll have a hard time figuring out if they’re 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional.

Flatlights look like the 3D wireframe perspective of a candle when viewed from above, but lay completely flat on your table.

Each Flatlight is made from a 0.4mm thick sheet of brass, which is photochemically etched to create the openings. This creates a more durable object than one created on a 3D printer, and also reduces sharp edges compared to laser cutting.

Early buyers can get a single Flatlight for £12(~$19 USD) each or £21(~$32 USD) for a pair. For a few dollars more, they’re also available with black on one side and white on the other, or in a 24K gold-plated finish which looks pretty spiffy.

If you’re interested in getting some Flatlights for your table, head on over to Kickstarter and make your pledge before November 9th.

Walking Dead Michonne and Pets Drinking Glasses: Let’s Drink to the Zombie Apocalypse

When you’ve been fighting off hundreds of zombies, the Governor, and his flunkies all day long, you can build up a wicked thirst. What better way to quench what ails you than with these drinking glasses, etched with images of Michonne and her two zombie pets.

Made by Etsy seller Zombie Gifts and Stuff – who sells, well, zombie gifts and stuff – these 18 oz. glasses have a cool, smoky finish to them, with an image of Michonne on one, and her two armless companions on the others. Of course, since they’re just silhouettes you can’t tell that she’s broken their jaws off. But trust us, these zombies won’t try to bite you, and will only serve to help you sneak through the horde unnoticed.

The full set of three glasses will set you back just $20.99(USD) over on Etsy. Just don’t get any funny ideas and start swiping at the pets with a katana – unless you want a bunch of broken glass on your hands.

F5-to-Refresh Tumblers Refresh your Palate

Since I’ve spent the better part of the last 20 years developing and designing stuff on the Internet, I’m painfully familiar with having to clear my cache and refresh my browser window. In fact, the F5 key on my old Windows machine is worn down to a nub at this point. I’ve got a Mac as my main work machine these days, so “Command-R” has become my new best friend. Even though these tumblers aren’t Mac compatible, I still like ‘em.

These 14oz. glass tumblers have been etched with the all-too-familiar “F5″ key, as a precursor to the refreshing beverage you’re about to enjoy. They’re made by Denver artist Donna Diddit, who says she can also make them as coffee mugs or aluminum water bottles.

A set of four tumblers sells for $24(USD) over on Etsy. Now all I need are some Command-R glasses. In the mean time, I’ll have to settle for the world’s best coffee mug, also made by Donna:

Star Trek Drinking Glasses: Beer, the Final Frontier

Whether you’re a Trekkie, a Trekker, or just a plain old Star Trek fan, you’ll want to dump those crappy old drinking glasses you have in your kitchen cabinet, and replace them with these Trek-inspired designs.
