How to Make a Silicone Candy Mold from Your Face

There are a number of tried and tested ways to make custom molds of pretty much any small object, but the creative duo of Eclectical Engineering reminds us that 3D scanning and printing technology is a viable alternative.

Eclectical Engineering made a cast of their head and shoulders by using a 3D scanner and a 3D printer, then used silicone to make a mold out of the 3D printed busts. As they noted in their video, there are 3D scanning apps for mobile devices as well as shops that can print 3D models, so don’t rule this project out just because you don’t have the hardware.
