Play the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Soundtrack from a Dorito Bag

So, what pairs well with the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 soundtrack? If you said Doritos, you’d be right. The snack chip maker is teaming up with Marvel Studios to promote the movie in a very cool way.

They have created a limited-edition series of Doritos bags with a built-in, rechargeable cassette deck-inspired player that plays the movie’s full soundtrack. Feel free to eat the entire bag while feeding your mind with some great tunes. The soundtrack has 14-songs from the ’60s and ’70s, from artists like Fleetwood Mac, George Harrison, Cheap Trick and a new track by The Sneepers and David Hasselhoff.

You’ll be able to pick up this limited-edition Guardians Doritos bag on April 28th through Amazon. No word yet on the price. They surely won’t last long.

Cookie Mixtape: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. Chew

The Guardians of the Galaxy mixtapes are both pretty awesome, but you know what they lack? Edibility. Rosanna Pansino has now cured this issue. Here is the Guardians of the Galaxy Mixtape Vol. 2, in cookie form.

To celebrate the new movie hitting theaters next month, Rosanna Pansino of Nerdy Nummies shows us how to make cookie versions of Star-Lord‘s “Awesome Mix” cassette tapes. They are even more awesome when you can eat them. These look like a lot of fun to create, but not as much fun as it to have someone else make them while you eat them.

I am Groot! Yeah? Well, I am starving! Move aside tree-man and let me at those cookies while I play the soundtrack.

Baby Groot Figure is Life Size: I am Cute!

Sideshow Collectibles is showing off a Baby Groot figure based on the character’s appearance in the coming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This particular Groot is life size, which is to say about 10 inches tall.

This collectible has three interchangeable faces, and is expertly painted to look just like the film character. The wood texture, moss, and sprouts are spot on.

He comes with a Ravagers outfit and two pairs of interchangeable hands. One set of hands has pointy attack roots flying out to get the bad guys. The hands have embedded wires to allow different poses.

He might be little and cute, but has a serious price tag of $189.99(USD). The collectible is estimated to be available by spring 2018.

Star-Lord’s Walkman Isn’t a Walkman at All

One of the coolest things in Guardians of the Galaxy is the retro soundtrack that Peter Quill plays on an old ’80s Sony TPS-L2 Walkman. If you missed the ’80s, you can still get one without having to resort to eBay. Sorta. This gadget may look vaguely like Star-Lord’s portable cassette player, but alas it’s not a real Walkman.

This Phony Fauxman is not made by Sony, and it doesn’t play cassette tapes. It’s actually a small speaker that’s designed to play your music from whatever device you carry, like MP3 players and smartphones. You have to plug in your audio source via its audio jack though. It’s too bad it doesn’t support Bluetooth. It has digital voice recording capability and can transform your voice too. It’s also got the song Come a Little Bit Closer – from the Guardians Vol. 2 soundtrack built in.

While it’s nothing like the real deal, it does sell for way less than the crazy $500+ prices people are asking for on eBay for an original TPS-L2 Walkman. The Star-Lord Walkman is available for $29.99(USD) from ThinkGeek.

Chocolate Baby Groot Sculpture: I AM SWEET!

Check out this amazing Baby Groot, sculpted from chocolate. That’s the best kind of Groot if you ask me. Not only is this little excellently sculpted, but he’s probably delicious too.

He’s also  holding the detonator for the nuclear bomb as seen in the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I don’t care if he blows stuff up or not, just as long as he gets in my stomach before he sets it off. This delicious creation was made by Sugar Spice, who knows just how to make a geek like me hungry. Check out how he came together in this fun timelapse video:

If you want to learn how to make your own chocolate Baby Groot, you can download a tutorial over on Vimeo, but I say leave it to the professionals. I think I could eat the whole thing in one sitting. Of course it makes it easier that he’s Baby Groot and not full size Groot.

Guardians Vol. 2 Funko Pop! Groot is Adorable

Groot might not have much in the way of a vocabulary, but he is very cool. Sadly, in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie Groot got blown to bits at the end. We saw that he would live again as he danced in the pot. If you have seen the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 trailer, you know that Groot is still tiny, but has his arms and legs back. Those tiny appendages go with a tiny Groot voice. This Funko Pop! Groot action figure is modeled after that slightly more developed Groot.

Like other Funko Pop! figures, it’s got a disproportionately oversized head for its body, and it’s adorbs. Groot is coming out this April, and you can pre-order one now over at Entertainment Earth for $10.99(USD).

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Monopoly

There’s a version of Monopoly for almost every geek property these days. So naturally it is time for a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Monopoly game. Thank Groot! I was getting bored with all of the other hundreds of versions.

It has all of the usual stuff like special money, properties and game pieces (Love that Walkman). I really love those Awesome Mix Chance and Community Chest cards too.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Monopoly Game offers fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe a unique game play adventure as they recruit characters from both Guardians of the Galaxy films, collecting bounties and double crossing their opponents while enjoying the classic table top experience of one of America’s favorite board games. The 6 player tokens resemble Star-Lord’s Mask, Young Groot, Rocket’s Blaster, Gamora’s Sword, Mantis, and a Cassette Player. This monopoly is a must have for fans of Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

You can pre-order it now from Merchoid, and it’s expected to ship this April.

Hot Toys Rocket Raccoon Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Figure is Awesome

Of all the movies in the Marvel universe, Guardians of the Galaxy was my favorite. It was funny, action packed, and had a hot green heroine. I also liked Rocket Raccoon because racoons are cute as long as they aren’t trying to break into your house at each night for a week (don’t ask).

Hot Toys is showing off a new Rocket action figure to go along with the second installment in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, and it looks awesome.

The action figure is 1/6-scale and is based on Rocket’s look and weapons from the upcoming movie. The action figure comes with two heads, and three pairs of hands, and comes with lots of accessories including what appears to be a Baby Groot, though you’ll need to hum your own Jackson 5 tunes.

The figure also has a heavy machine gun and other weapons. There are over 17 points of articulation and each piece of the action figure is hand painted. If you want one, you can pre-order yours now from Sideshow Collectibles for $228(USD).

Hasbro Unveils Dancing Groot Vol. 2

Dancing Groot is back! Hasbro has unveiled a new figure, which I like to call Dancing Groot 2: Electric Boogaloo.

This sound-detecting and limb-shaking Groot collectible stands 11.5-inches tall. It lights up when it plays and dances to a music clip from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 soundtrack, which is sure to be awesome. You can use your own tunes too, and when the music is playing, Groot’s eyes light up and his roots move to the beat.

He’ll cost you $34.99(USD) and will be available in the Spring of 2017. Now you and Groot can dance the night away! Now is the time on Sprockets when we dance!

Rocket Raccoon Sofubi Vinyl Action Figure: Ain’t Nothin’ Like me, ‘Cept Me (and This Toy)

Guardians of the Galaxy is one of my all time favorite Marvel movies, and I thought Rocket Racoon was a pretty cool character. A unique new Rocket toy is landing soon, and it looks like this bad attitude racoon came right out of an ’80s Saturday morning cartoon.

The toy is a Marvel Hero Sofubi vinyl action figure and it looks pretty cute. Maybe it’s just me, but Rocket appears to be holding Marvin the Martian’s laser pistol in his hand.

The action figure is about 7-inches tall and is an Entertainment Earth exclusive. The toy will sell for $79.99(USD) and will be available in January.
