Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon and Baby Groot Cherry Piescraper

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is hitting theaters this week, and to celebrate, Jessica Leigh Clark-Bojin of Pies Are Awesome created another awesome piescraper. This time, we’ve got one featuring Rocket Raccoon, Baby Groot, and lots of cherry filling.

You can learn how to make one for yourself in the video here. Seems like it would be a fun project and it doesn’t look too hard as long as you have some experience baking pies.

I love how it turned out in the end – it looks like some ancient religious artifact. I picture the team leaving this behind on an alien world and a primitive culture finding it and worshipping them.

Hot Toys Rocket Raccoon Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Figure is Awesome

Of all the movies in the Marvel universe, Guardians of the Galaxy was my favorite. It was funny, action packed, and had a hot green heroine. I also liked Rocket Raccoon because racoons are cute as long as they aren’t trying to break into your house at each night for a week (don’t ask).

Hot Toys is showing off a new Rocket action figure to go along with the second installment in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, and it looks awesome.

The action figure is 1/6-scale and is based on Rocket’s look and weapons from the upcoming movie. The action figure comes with two heads, and three pairs of hands, and comes with lots of accessories including what appears to be a Baby Groot, though you’ll need to hum your own Jackson 5 tunes.

The figure also has a heavy machine gun and other weapons. There are over 17 points of articulation and each piece of the action figure is hand painted. If you want one, you can pre-order yours now from Sideshow Collectibles for $228(USD).

Rocket Raccoon Sofubi Vinyl Action Figure: Ain’t Nothin’ Like me, ‘Cept Me (and This Toy)

Guardians of the Galaxy is one of my all time favorite Marvel movies, and I thought Rocket Racoon was a pretty cool character. A unique new Rocket toy is landing soon, and it looks like this bad attitude racoon came right out of an ’80s Saturday morning cartoon.

The toy is a Marvel Hero Sofubi vinyl action figure and it looks pretty cute. Maybe it’s just me, but Rocket appears to be holding Marvin the Martian’s laser pistol in his hand.

The action figure is about 7-inches tall and is an Entertainment Earth exclusive. The toy will sell for $79.99(USD) and will be available in January.

DIY Kid’s Rocket Raccoon Costume: Guardian of the Front Porch

Chase Borchardt didn’t have to steal a Morag orb to become famous, thanks to his talented mom Christina, who made him an awesome Rocket Raccoon costume. Oh yeah!

Christina, who documented her build on The RPF, says she started working on the costume last June, even before Guardians of the Galaxy came out. She sculpted the mask to make it fit her son’s face, as well as the ears, eyelids, teeth and gums. She also sewed the jumpsuit and punched or glued lots of fur, and used toed shoes to emulate Rocket’s feet.

She also attached the mask’s lower jaw with a hinge so that it could move with her son’s actual mouth.

Nerf’s Rocket Raccoon gun made her job a bit easier, but she also painted and installed LEDs on the toy. Here’s Fox 17’s interview with Christina and her little Rocket:

I love the costume’s head. It looks alive! Even Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn gave Christina props. Check out Christina’s thread on The RPF for more on her awesome project. She’d also love it if you voted for the costume on Halloween ComicFest’s contest.

Rocket Raccoon Backpack: Ain’t No Thing Like Me, Except Me (and This Bag)

I am a huge fan of Guardians of the Galaxy. Like many of you, Rocket Raccoon and Groot were my two favorite characters. This Rocket Raccoon Backpack Buddy will let you carry the genetically modified mammal on your back. You can even say “I Am Groot” while you carry him around.

This backpack says it’s sized for kids, but it might fit small adults too with straps that are 18-inches long at full length. The bag is smallish, but it should be big enough to hold school supplies or even an iPad.

ThinkGeek is selling the Rocket Raccoon Backpack Buddy for $39.99(USD). I can see this being the perfect backpack for back to school, assuming you travel light.

Rocket Raccoon Plush Puts the Joy in Everything

I thought that Guardians of the Galaxy was one of the best Marvel movies I have ever seen. It was packed with action, funny, and I very much enjoyed it. If you are a fan of Rocket Raccoon, you might want to add this plush toy to your collection. If you happen to have a 10-year-old with so many stuffed animals in her room she can’t sleep there as I do, you might as well order this now.

It’s called the Guardians of the Galaxy Fabrikations Rocket Raccoon, but you can call it Plush Rocket. It’s made by Funko and is an officially licensed toy. It’s got a tiny body and a massive head, a genetic deformity common to plush animals.

Rocket stands 6″ tall and apparently, it has small parts. I’d wager they means the eyes so if your little one is still in the stage where they chew on everything, don’t give this to them. Otherwise, you can pick up your own Rocket Raccoon plush for $19.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.

3D Printed Geeky Laughing Buddhas: What is the Sound of One Han Shooting?

Tap into the force of Luck with Chris “muckychris” Milnes’ 3D printed geeky Budai statues, which swaps the jelly bellied deity’s head with characters from Star Wars and other sci-fi franchises.

As much as I love Groot and Rocket’s two for one deal, I think Palpatine is the only one that fits seamlessly into the monk’s body. That’s creepy. Chris sells the statues on his Etsy shop. They’re available in three sizes: $8 (USD) for 2″, $18 for 4″ and $28 for 6″.

Rocket Raccoon Cosplay: Ain’t Nothing Like This… Except This

Cosplay can be sexy, funny, and just plain weird. This Rocket Raccoon cosplay certainly falls into that latter category. It’s weird, but still really awesome. The costume was made by Shoko and Jérôme Cosplay.

The costume is complete with furry raccoon arms and legs as well as a furry head with bared teeth. It all looks very real. It almost looks like CG animation until you see the close-up and glassy dead eyes.

The cosplay is completed with a replica weapon from the movie. The only way this could be better is if you made the costume small enough for a child or a really short adult.

Rocket Raccoon Full-size Figure: Ain’t No Thing like Me, Except Me

Guardians of the Galaxy fans, you better have a spacious shelf, because this limited edition Rocket Raccoon figure is nearly 3ft. tall. Made by NECA, the figure was based on “the actual digital files used in making the movie.” It’s made of foam rubber and latex and then hand painted. NECA also stole a prosthetic leg, then realized they didn’t need it.

NECA says this figure is “slightly-larger-than-life-size”, but according to Marvel Rocket’s height is 4ft. Perhaps his movie incarnation is a tad shorter than his original comic book version. I’m sure that would mightily piss him off.

There NECA, you happy? We’re all wondering about a talking raccoon’s height now. [Bunch of jackasses, Googling "Rocket Raccoon height."] You can pre-order the full-size Rocket Raccoon figure from the BigBadToyStore for $335 (USD).

Life-size Groot and Rocket Raccoon LEGO Sculpture Guards the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy is currently destroying the box office around the world. The flick is one of the biggest hits of the summer and when you combine a cool Marvel movie with LEGO, we get excited. Check out this awesome life-size LEGO sculpture of Groot and Rocket Raccoon.

The project took 80 builders and 300 hours to complete. The LEGO duo was on display at the London premiere of the film and were commissioned by Marvel. Here’s a time-lapse video of the build:

I wonder how many pieces it took to build them.
