Scrubba Wash Pack Is a Backpack That Doubles as a Washing Machine

When camping, you could always hand wash your clothes, but that is no fun. Neither is wearing stinky clothes. The Scrubba Wash Pack offers a fairly hassle-free way to clean your clothes when you don’t have a washing machine handy.

Like other backpacks, you can use it to carry your stuff inside, which is great for camping, the gym, the office and more. This pack is different though, because it has an flexible washboard in the main compartment, allowing you to clean your clothes by simply throwing them inside with water and detergent, then shaking the bag for three minutes to get the dirt out. After that, you take your clothes out and hang to dry.

It has a transparent window for monitoring how the laundry is doing, an air valve to quickly flatten the bag before washing your clothes, and a grippy back panel, so the bag doesn’t slide around. It’s a cool portable laundromat at only $99.95(USD).

The Woof Washer 360 Helps You Get Your Dog Clean

woof_washer_360

How hard is it to wash a dog? We really don’t know; sometimes you see videos of them seemingly loving the water, other times they run from it. Whatever the case is with your pooch, the Woof Washer 360 at least tries to make the task easier. It’s a hollow tube filled with holes that connects to your outdoors hose. You then somehow convince your dog to step through it and get washed from every angle. There is a soap attachment, which can be bypassed with a switch when the time comes to rinse.

It seems it might be easier to just convince your dog to be ok being in the tub, but maybe you prefer to do this sort of thing outdoors. Whatever the case, it’s $20 or $25, and comes in a small (40 inches circumference) or large (49 inches circumference) size.

Woof Washer 360 Makes Washing the Dog Easy

The Woof Washer 360 is a hula hoop shaped gadget that sprays water so you can wash your dog more easily. Just connect your garden hose and you can get Rover clean super fast.

You can spray soapy water through it, or clean water for rinsing. It looks like a pretty awesome gadget, but also kind of ridiculous. It does look like a much better option than putting your dog in the tub and having him get the whole room wet and filthy as you fight with him.

The Woof Washer 360 costs $19.99(USD) for the small version and $24.99 for the large and comes with a microfiber drying mitt. Whether this thing works or not, it looks funny to use. It might be even more useful for cats.

Crystal Wash Balls Let You Do The Laundry With No Detergent

crystal-wash-2

These balls are filled with “bio-ceramic” pellets that allegedly change the pH of the water to 8.5 an above. This creates alkaline water that is able to wash your dirty clothes without needing harsh chemicals, and they’ll be able to do so for 1,000 cycles. The pellets also create Hydrogen Peroxyde, which kills bacteria and gets rid of odors, all without irritating your skin, or releasing pollutants into the environment or even running the risk of fading your colors. The only catch is that the balls need to be “recharged” every 30 washing cycles by being put outside in the sun for a day. The Crystal Wash 2.0 contains a Bluetooth module that will remind you when it’s time to recharge them, as well as a pH sensor that lets you keep track of the alkalinity of your water during a cycle. Other stats available through these sensors are “Wash Complete Alerts; Wash Cycle Tracking Stats – Graphs, Counters, Social Sharing; Savings Tracking…” It’s a novel way to do your laundry, and if it works as advertised is one that would bring many benefits over traditional detergents. The only drawback is the lack of nice smelling clothes, but we suppose you can still stick a sheet of fabric softener in the drying machine, no? It’s a $75 pledge, or $100 for two balls, although this is only because the $50 price point is sold out. Retail, the ball would cost $60.

Samsung’s Washing & Floor Cleaning Appliances are quite a Sight at CES 2015

The Luna Wash

The future of washing clothes foresees us putting the washing machine between the dirty clothes and not the other way around. Interestingly, the Luna is an electrostatic spherical washing machine where the metallic sphere loads a little dose of water and is placed into the pile of dirty clothes. It then creates a cloud of fine particles of steam electrostatically charged. The steam oozes out through pores of the metal surface, wrapping and pervading all the fibers of the clothes.

This is how it works:

  • Luna flows between clothes through vibrations and pulses that control their movements, to scrub and shake tissues, detect dirt foci and detach it.
  • The metallic surface of the sphere acts as a magnet: electrostatically charged, attracts dirt particles impregnated with steam and sucks these towards the core of the sphere.
  • Finally, Luna dries with hot air the residual damp in the tissues.

Luna is 2014 Electrolux Design Lab Top 100 entry, you can vote for this or any other entry here. Voting closes on May 16, 2014.
