Custom PlayStation 3s for Sony’s Friends: It Only Does Sweet Casemods

The very talented case modder Javier Riquelme customized several PlayStation 3 consoles for Sony, who in turn gave them as gifts to its partner developers and publishers. With the exception of what seems to be Javier’s trademark flourish, each console looks radically different and suited to its theme. This dude is for real.

As I said, each casemod is unique; if someone told me that the Borderlands-themed PS3 was made by someone from Gearbox Software while the Metal Gear Rising one was made by a cyborg ninja from Kojima’s lair I would have believed that. But Javier does like adding thick letters with LEDs that contrast nicely with the rest of the sweet art on the surface of the console.

All of these look awesome, but I want to shake Javier’s hand just for the Assassin’s Creed casemod. I don’t even like that franchise and I want the console. You can see more shots of Javier’s work on his Imgur gallery, on his Twitter page and on his Facebook page.

Bioshock Infinite Bird/Cage Necklaces: Choose Your Path (on Etsy)

The bird and cage necklaces in Bioshock Infinite are one of the “choices” offered in the critically acclaimed game. In that world, Elizabeth asks you to choose which necklace she should get. But in this world, you don’t have to choose, because you can buy both of these fan made replicas. You don’t even have to buy either of them.

Of course, you won’t know how not owning either or both of these necklaces will affect your game’s ending. Compounding matters is the fact that Etsy seller League of Shadows has three different bronze outlines for the pendants. And that the pendants are also available as brooches. Brooches be crazy.

You know what they say – there’s always a lighthouse, there’s always a man, there’s always a city. Not that I know why they say that; I haven’t played the game yet. What I do know is that you can buy the necklaces and brooches from League of Shadows for $13 (USD) each.

The second weekend of the NCAA Basketball tournament takes place this week with the Sweet 16 and Elite 8, but hoops fans will also want to keep an eye on the streaking Miami Heat. Meanwhile, some sci fi / fantasy favorites are highlights thanks to their seasonal return or departure this week, but we'd also give new series like BBC America's Orphan Black a chance in between sessions of Bioshock: Infinite. Look below for the highlights this week, followed after the break by our weekly listing of what to look out for in TV, Blu-ray and videogames.

Doctor Who
Doctor Who is back, now featuring actress Jenna-Louise Coleman as companion Clara Oswald for the next half season. There's a preview trailer embedded after the break, and the BBC has a rundown of the first four episodes right here.
(March 30th, BBC America, 8PM)

The Walking Dead
This season of everyone's favorite zombie series is finally ready to wrap up with what we expect will be an epic showdown between the prison residents and Woodbury. Last season's finale certainly met our expectations in terms of action, we'll see if it can repeat or even top that effort this time around.
(March 31st, AMC, 9PM)

Game of Thrones
Winter is... still coming. Game of Thrones is back for season three and there is an appropriate amount of backstabbing, intrigue, violence and dragons to go around. By now we know what to expect from the lands of Westeros, if you need to be filled in check after the break for a recap of the last two seasons.

BioShock Infinite Season Pass to Offer Discounted DLC Packs

Of all the games are launching early in 2013, BioShock Infinite is certainly one of the most anticipated. The game will see players exploring the floating city of Columbia and fighting against baddies as they strive to rescue the mysterious time-and-space-tearing Elizabeth. The game will launch on March 26, which is only a few weeks away now. This game was originally expected to launch last year but was delayed.

Irrational and 2K Games have now announced that along with the launch of the video game on March 26 will also come the launch of a Season Pass that will get players all three add-on content packs currently in development for one low price.

The Season Pass will sell for $19.99(USD) for PS3 and PC gamers, while Xbox 360 gamers will pay 1600 Microsoft Points ($20). Buying the Season Pass will save customers about 30% compared to buying the add-on packs individually.

Gamers who pre-order the Season Pass will also get four pieces of exclusive gear, a machine gun damage upgrade, a pistol damage upgrade, gold skin for both weapons, and five infusion bottles. Those infusion bottles help players increase health, shield duration, and vigors.
