Companion Cube Cat House (or Is It a Storage Cube?)
This is the Catpanion Cube, a feline residence made by Instructables member/Aperture Science vet/cat slave Rachael Whitaker. I hear that when you place your cat inside, she’ll be simultaneously dead and alive, stuck inside the dimension that the Portal gun uses to generate shortcuts. When you place your dog inside, he’ll just poop in it.
Rachael made the Catpanion Cube out of foam padding and some fabric. She held the Cube’s walls together using pins and thread. The Cube doesn’t sing though.
Open a portal to Instructables to find out how to make your own Catpanion Cube. Your cat will know that you’ll incinerate her in her sleep if she ever misbehaves.

If you’re going to be wandering through test chambers all alone, you’re going to want to have a companion, right? While you could go with an ordinary Weighted Companion Cube, why not get one that lights up, just in case the lights go out?
This cute little Companion Cube will accompany you through the darkest of nights, and it will never threaten to stab you. This 2-inch aluminum and plexiglas cube is made by Nathan Van Kampen, and is guaranteed to illuminate – at least until you toss it into a fire to be euthanized.

Your Portal gun isn’t as cool as Hack-a-Day’s Portal gun (which actually levitates a companion cube)
There you were, thinking your NECA-produced Portal gun replica was super neat all on its own. Well, okay -- it is -- but wouldn't it be even cooler if you could use it to make a baby companion cube levitate in mid-air with it? That question is exactly what lead to Hack a Day's creation of just such a device, as seen in the video below the break. By reappropriating a magnetic floating globe's parts and attaching said parts to both the gun and a homemade companion cube, Hack a Day were able to recreate at least part of the magic Chell experiences in her Aperture Science adventures. Of course, if you move the gun too much, the companion cube will fall out. Just think what that does to its psyche! You monster.
