Chisel iPhone Dock is Carved from Wood

chisel iphone Chisel iPhone Dock is Carved from WoodCheck out this stylish minimalist wooden Chisel Dock, designed by iSkelter. Each one is handcrafted from renewable bamboo and has a cutout that perfectly fits your iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 5, or iPad mini in either portrait or landscape mode. There’s a hole cutout behind the phone so you can pop out the phone.
chisel iphone dock Chisel iPhone Dock is Carved from WoodThe cord sits neatly in it’s own groove so it won’t get tangled. What I like about this dock is that it actually looks really good even when the phone isn’t in it. I’m sure someone who is handy with power (or hand) tools could carve out something pretty similar themselves but since it costs just $39 ($59 the iPad version) it’s not so outrageous that you have to go that route.

As we straddle the ever shifting border between genius and gross we come upon the CTA Digital iPotty for iPad iPotty: iPad Holding Potty Seat, a potty seat with an iPad holder built right in. Great for potty training. It does have a clear touchscreen protector to guard against “smudges and messy hands”. And we all know how those hands got messy. The stand rotates 360° for horizontal or vertical viewing of your iPad. And by “your” iPad, we mean your kid’s iPad because do you want it back now? Like a regular potty, it has a removable inner bowl, seat and a splashguard. Also has a clip-on seat to convert to an iPad activity seat (although technically as a potty seat, it is an “activity seat”- just a different type of activity). It’s good training for when they grow up and do the exact same thing on a real toilet. Begins shipping March 2013.

Wood iPad Retro Television Dock

wood ipad tv dock Wood iPad Retro Television Dock
Check out this fantastic iPad dock from Valliswood. Designed to look like an old TV complete with dials and rabbit ears (remember dials?! you actually had to get up to change the channel) but with a slot to hold your iPad. A hole in the fold-down rear panel lets you run the charging cord through it. Handmade by a craftsman named Mario in Croatia from local trees- old stumps, broken or parted logs- none are from living trees. Beautiful.

TonSchrein vers2.0 TonSchrein v. 2.0: Insane 4 Foot Tall Gothic iPad Speaker Dock
He’s baaaaaaack. Do you remember a few months back when Georg Dinkel created a ridiculously ornate iPad dock? Well now he’s one-upped himself with a nearly 4 foot tall Gothic Medieval skyscraper of an iPad speaker dock. Yes that’s an iPad dock, check out the iPad on the closeup:

Inside is a 2-way 25 watt speaker system in the bottom part, LED lighting, and a Lightning connector to plug in the iPad. This thing is made of polymer clay, wood, metal powders, metal leaf, acrylic stone, and a whole lot of creativity (and presumably time too). Here’s the backside.

There’s a bit more info on his website, along with a video interview with Georg (in German, so hopefully you speak it, otherwise you can just see the imagery). Amazing work. Can’t wait to see version 3.
