Watch this!

ergo_smartwatch_1

Here’s some food for thought. Why does the screen on the smartwatch have to imitate the regular square or round face of a wristwatch? One screen means only one piece of information at a time. The Ergo watch does something quite daring in this regard. The Ergo watch has a single screen, but it’s unique design allows it to split into three different units while displaying information.

The watch comes in an ellipsoid metal outer body with quite a lot of space outside the screen. The ‘caterpillar’ screen is a merge between three circles, allowing it to display a single thread of information, or three separate threads of information. Obviously, this would probably need a completely different UI and OS. I’m wondering how anyone would view photos on this, but from the images, it looks to be an black and white e-ink screen, like the Pebble, putting this concept in the basic/lower tier of smart wearables. And if that’s the case, may I say, this concept’s definitely the most unique one out there!

Scuba Breath

My perception of a pristine and peaceful scuba dive changed when I went for my first dive off the Great Barrier Reef. It looks so easy in the movies, but the breathing underwater with an oxygen mask is difficult. Don’t let those practice lessons in the swimming pool fool you! To make it easier for us, here is the Triton Oxygen Mask For Diving. It is a very convenient oxygen respirator concept that allows us to breathe under water for a long time by simply biting it. It also does not require the skill of breathing in and out while biting mouthpiece like conventional respirator.

  • Triton uses a new technology of artificial gill model.
  • It extracts oxygen under water through a filter in the form of fine threads with holes smaller than water molecules.
  • This is a technology developed by a Korean scientist that allows us to freely breathe under water for a long time.
  • Using a very small but powerful micro compressor, it compresses oxygen and stores the extracted oxygen in storage tank.
  • The micro compressor operates through micro battery.
  • The micro battery is a next-generation technology with a size 30 times smaller than current battery that can quickly charge 1,000 times faster.

Triton is a 2013 sadi product innovation studio project.

Freshest Air At Home

Inspired by the movements of a fish’s gills, the Electrolux Breathing Wall literally breathes in fresh air and infuses a relaxing environment at home. The wall mounted ‘gills’ are integrated into the home-space, transforming the area to bliss. Apparently the wall changes shape according to the air cleaning process. The Breathing Wall can be customized to suit individual needs through six functions; weather, memory, reaction, breathing, mood, and general settings by using a smart device app.

Breathing Wall is a 2013 Electrolux Design Lab semi-finalist.

Laptop Or PC, You Decide

PANDORA is a flexible laptop PC for the next generation. Through its flexible display and proper application of various technologies, this laptop PC can be applied to a number of interfaces smoothly. A shade less thicker than typical tablets, the device boasts of thin flexible battery technologies as well. A good hybrid concept for gen-next I love the new form and approach towards the design.

Measuring only 9mm thick, it can be easily gripped and is convenient to carry. Materials used include fine porous grapheme materials, high polymer and silicon on the hinge part.
