Modder Turns NERF Rival Blaster Into 2,000-Round Minigun

It’s always fun to see people mod NERF guns into badass killing machines. Well, not killing machines exactly, with that foam ammo, but still, they can be pretty awesome. NERF’s Rival blasters fire small foam balls at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour. foam or not, that’s pretty intense. But not one to settle for the ordinary, Captain Xavier cranked things up a bit, hacking his NERF Rival into a spinning minigun fed by a 2,000-shot backpack.

You will be amazed when you see that Captain Xavier’s Rival can now shoot up to 20 foam balls every second. It does this for a over a minute and a half without needing an ammo top-off. With a gun like this, you definitely need a backpack. Ammo doesn’t last long when you are spraying foam balls like crazy.

It really is amazing to watch. The first 18 minutes of the video walk through the build details, but if you just want to get right down to the firing demo, skip ahead.

It’s completely awesome – aside from the fact that his wife is going to kill him when she gets home and finds her yard littered with little foam balls. Still, it’s totally worth it. I wish that NERF would just sell these weapons like this, without us having to mod them. I assume they don’t because they’re worried about things like child safety and lawsuits.

Adam Savage Builds a Ping Pong Machine Gun

Adam Savage will never stop building awesome things. Why would he? The man has the coolest job in the world. He gets to play all day and come up with cool new toys and make them a reality. His latest project is for Tested’s One Day Builds series, in which he built an awesome ping pong machine gun, using a leaf blower as its source of air.

He wanted to build this rapid-firing ping pong ball weapon since he was a child, and it looks like he’s fully achieved his big dream. This weapon will be used in his and Michael Steven‘s (Vsauce) upcoming touring show Brain Candy Live.  Judging by this build, we don’t want to miss it.

If you don’t have the time to watch the whole build, you can skip to 18:25 to see it in action.

The ping pong machine gun really should be involved in some kind of new Olympic sport, where teams shoot each other over long tables and score points.

This Machine Gun Fires 120 Paper Airplanes Per Minute

When I was a kid, I had to fold my own paper airplanes with my own two hands. You kids have it easy with your fancy paper plane folding machine guns. All you have to do is stick 200 sheets of A5 paper into the back of this weapon, and instead of firing bullets when you pull the trigger, it will unleash a barrage of up to 120 paper airplanes every minute.

Dieter Michael Krone has been improving his design ever since his first paper airplane folding machine showed up back in 2014. This is version 2.0. It was built from a combination of 3D-printed components and purchased parts. It is now called the PFM A5 v2.0.

Pretty awesome, but when everyone else forgets how to fold paper airplanes by hand, I’m gonna make a fortune with my long forgotten knowledge and start selling handmade, artisanal paper airplanes.

Snowball Machine Gun: Cold War

The latest innovation in snowball fights comes from scientist and hacker Mark Rober, who, has taken the sport to the next level with his snowball machine gun. Basically what he has done is instilled fear into bundled up children everywhere, by outfitting an Echo Leaf Blower into a dominating weapon that wins any snowball fight.

Rober added a 15-snowball ‘magazine’ to the leaf blower, an open tube that’s controlled by a plunger. Just push the plunger to empty the magazine faster. When you’re out, just reload and hit more kids as they run away.

This is the most genius snowball flinging invention ever. Check out the video to see it in action. It is most impressive. Check out the build instructions here if you want to try and build your own snowball machine gun.

HDT Self-Driving Machine Gun: You Have 20 Seconds to Comply

Maybe you thought that self-driving vehicles were a little bit further away, but check out this prototype machine gun, that will dispatch enemies from afar, without needing anyone to drive it.

The HDT Robotics Self-Driving Machine Gun uses a M240 machine gun and it can fire at a target at almost 500 feet away. Such a robot could help clear the way for soldiers to safely enter a battlefield, assuming it’s able to tackle the terrain us puny humans can. The prototype was demonstrated for the US Army, and you’ll notice that they have it chained up “for safety purposes.” Perhaps they learned a lesson from ED-209.

It can be a scary thought, having unmanned vehicle firing at enemies. So long as they remain firmly under human control, I guess it can’t be all bad.

Amazing AR-15 Glass Pipe Is More Than Smoke And Mirrors

We’ve heard of smoking guns, but this gives the expression a whole new meaning, This piece is an actual glass-pipe made to resemble an AR-15.

This glass pipe measures 34″ long x 16″ high x 7″ deep, and is made out of borosilicate. This AR-15 reproduction works just fine, and ...

Army gets picky, solicits smart feed ammo system for machine guns and auto cannons

War! Huh! What is it good for? Stuff like smart bullet-feeding systems, apparently. See, the US Army isn't quite satisfied with the mixed ammo feed it currently uses with weapons like the helicopter-mounted M230 chain gun. Instead, it wants its machine gunners to be able to freely switch and pick their ammo of choice -- whether it be incendiary rounds or precision-guided smart bullets -- to better match conditions on the field. So the Army is using another weapon in its arsenal -- good, old tax dollars -- to solicit proposals for a smart bullet-feeding system. Initial project goals include near real-time inventorying of ammo, a fire rate of 300 rounds per minute and a selection accuracy rate of 95 percent. Yeah, it's no freaking railgun or tactical laser system. But at least the feeding system can also be used for more peaceful pursuits, like dispensing medical vials or emergency supplies (not via machine gun, of course). In the meantime, folks who want to see a demo of the system's not-so-peaceful applications can check out the video after the break.

Death from Above: Quadcopter Modified to Carry Machine Gun

You probably already know the FPSRussia YouTube channel from their many videos of carnage showing a nice Russian-sounding guy using different weapons. His latest video may be the best yet. In this one, he isn’t even holding a weapon. Instead, a remote-controlled quadcopter named “Charlene” is doing the shooting.

quadcopter machinegun
There aren’t many details on this quadrotor, but we know that it’s a prototype unit that was either modified from a standard quadcopter or actually a work in progress for use by the military. There’s a camera in front and underneath is a deadly machine gun. That said, there’s plenty of suspicion that this thing is a fake, and just a promotion for the next Call of Duty game.

Charlene is controlled using a tablet with the view configured to also act as a target reticule for the gun. It seems to have great accuracy.  All I can say is, it’s a good thing we don’t see this thing in our skies. It would be the last thing we see.[via Geek]
