The Canoo Anyroad creates a unique hybrid between a city car, sports-recreational vehicle, and a modern pickup truck

Calling the Anyroad a traditional pickup truck wouldn’t really be accurate, given its proportions and its designs, but it seems like the most sensible thing to call it. What IS the Canoo Anyroad, though? Well, it’s got elements of a city car, a pickup, a recreational vehicle, and an ATV. In short, it’s the perfect vehicle for living in a city apartment, a suburban home, or even the great outdoors.

The Canoo Anyroad’s real purpose lies in its name. Of course, one could just throw the word Truck into the name and call it a day, but the Anyroad really sort of blurs the lines between the different car categories. It comes with an incredibly minimalist design (in signature Canoo style) and even boasts of those iconic + shaped headlights and taillights (there’s a clever detail within them too that I’ll talk about later). The automobile exists in two parts (as visible in the image below) that separate into a car on the front, and a collapsible tent at the back. The car runs independently and comes with a bed that’s much shorter than the ones found on traditional pickup trucks. However, plug the folding tent-unit in and the Canoo Anyroad is complete; ready to be driven anywhere for a weekend getaway.

The Anyroad’s design balances the need to be in the outdoors along with the need to have a normal car that can still be driven around in the city. For the latter, the tent unit can be unplugged, while the two-seater truck’s sufficiently modern aesthetic makes it look like quite a natural on the city streets.

The tent-half can be set up either as a mobile shelter attached to the back of the car, or as a separate detached entity, made stable thanks to a fold-out stand. The tent itself is pretty easy to set up, as it expands almost like a bellow would to provide ample space for two people. There’s a small ladder to help people climb up into the shelter, and a tabletop surface on the opposite side, for storing your camping equipment or acting as a table for your meals. Storage panels on either side of the tent offer extra space to stash items like your luggage, medical kits, and other outdoor paraphernalia.

The headlight remains the Canoo Anyroad’s most impressive detail. While it serves its original purpose – of being a road-illuminating light for the car (and its branding element), the Anyroad’s headlights have a secondary purpose too. They detach from the car’s front, becoming portable lights that can then be used as torches/flashlights, or even floor lamps, thanks to a built-in tripod that lets the light stand erect. Conceptually, it’s an incredibly interesting concept, and just goes to show how committed the Anyroad is towards being the ideal vehicle for outdoor travel and recreational camping.

The Anyroad is the brainchild of automotive designer Jerrick Chow. Its existence is summed up by two words “Tranquility Always”, as it aims at providing a tranquil oasis, or a getaway from the chaos of a city’s bustling life. Canoo’s current line-up features a lifestyle vehicle, a pickup truck, and a delivery van. All of them cater to either city life, or outdoor off-road living, but not both. The Anyroad concept aims at bridging that gap, while utilizing Canoo’s advanced electric platform to power the vehicle.

Stunning Lamborghini Marzal concept is an off-road vehicle with the inner spirit of a raging bull

Rumor has it that Lamborghini is giving the Urus a significant facelift this year – its first since 2017 when the Urus was announced. I personally think the Urus is the kind of vehicle Lamborghini should openly embrace. After all, if your brand logo is a raging bull, why not create cars that embody that physically? Don’t get me wrong, their hypercars, if I may borrow a term from my generation, are certainly bae… but nothing says sheer unbridled power than a large vehicle with a larger-than-life presence. The Urus, to a degree, embodied that; and the Lamborghini Marzal wears that distinction proudly on its sleeve too. Meet the Marzal a conceptual off-roader designed to be just about as brutish and powerful as the ‘fighting bull’ brand it represents!

It isn’t like Lamborghini hasn’t built off-road vehicles before. The company was literally established as a tractor manufacturer before evolving into and embracing its racecar DNA. Designed by Parisian designer Andrej Suchov using Gravity Sketch, the Marzal concept is a confluence of sorts, created to be a vehicle that can shine on the tarmac but isn’t scared of leaving its comfort zone to dominate rough terrain.

Its profile certainly captures the signature Lamborghini silhouette, with its iconic wedge-shaped design… however with higher ground clearance, a larger rear, and bigger tires designed to handle rough roads. It’s quite rare to see a Lamborghini with a rear windshield, and the Marzal boasts of that too, although it does get blocked when you include the storage unit. With its aggressive design styling and that iconic yellow color, the Marzal looks every bit like something Lamborghini would make – a testament to the company’s strong visual language. It also sports a rather interesting Y-shaped taillight, often seen in Lamborghinis, but not like this. In the case of the Marzal, the Y-shape is a prominent, defining feature on the rear, and I personally think it gives the vehicle character.

Part slick supercar, part all-terrain vehicle, the Marzal definitely is a hybrid, but looks quite comfortable in its skin. It boasts of a hexagonal windscreen that extends into the hood, and rather unusual doors that curve upward into the roof and don’t really come with any pillars. Rather, there’s a horizontal bar running through the door that I can’t help but attribute to the designer’s creative license. On the inside, the car seats four – with yellow leather-clad carbon-fiber seats. The driver, however, gets the best experience with an incredibly stylish cockpit outfitted with a neat sporty steering wheel.

The iconic DeLorean DMC-12 car gets resurrected as an off-roading mean machine!

The very mention of the iconic DeLorean DMC-12 makes you excited – no matter if it is the classic one or a modern reinterpretation. Making a mark in the “Back to the Future” trilogy, the car will celebrate its 40th anniversary this month, ever since it was first rolled off the production lines on January 21, 1981. The sports car (as described in that era) has been hot property ever since its launch and will continue to do so. Automotive fanatics like to tinker around with the appearance of this iconic four-wheeler in their own ways, and this time around the DeLorean DMC-12 has got a mean off-roading avatar.

Los Angeles-based concept artist BradBuilds has turned the DeLorean into a rugged off-road vehicle, and boy does it look impressive or what. To give it a tactical advantage on tough terrain the suspension has been elongated and lifted while the wheel arches have been trimmed. To make sure the vital mechanical components of the car don’t get damaged by sharp rocks or stones, the undercarriage has got crash protection. To complement this setup, the DeLorean DMC-12 gets a fat set of wheels embellished in all-terrain tires. To keep the movie theme alive, BradBuilds has retained Doc Brown’s reactor and the rear cooling fins. If you look closely, the concept car also retains the external wiring and hoses configuration.

The time-traveling element has also not been ignored in the off-road build. The Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor and the acclaimed flux capacitor show up in the design too. Other than that the DeLorean DMC-12 gets subtle off-roading elements for that definitive off-roading character and a mean profile. According to BradBuilds the car has a semblance of the AMC Eagle vibe and I don’t disagree!

A limited edition 2021 Ford Bronco powered by V8 engine churns out 750 HP, hits 60 mph in 4.5 seconds flat!

For people who have waited with bated breath for years to own a Ford Bronco with a V8 under the hood, there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ford has made it clear that a V8 engine powered Bronco isn’t in the pipeline given the federal requirements for managing the CO2 emissions. But wait, there’s Hennessey Performance Engineering to the rescue as the Texas-based aftermarket tuner has announced the VelociRaptor V8 Bronco. Yes, a limited edition version of the 2021 Ford Bronco that roars with a 5.0-liter V8 engine under the hood. According to founder and CEO, John Hennessey, “The 2021 Bronco may be one of the most highly desired vehicles since the introduction of the Ford GT. We look forward to taking the new Bronco to the next level and beyond.”

The standard 2021 Bronco announced for next year has the turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine churning out a not so exciting (for gearheads) 310 HP (231 kilowatts). Hennessey VelociRaptor V8 Bronco changes that dimension with a V8 producing 750 HP (559 kilowatts), mated to the Ford’s 10-speed automatic engine. It propels the mid-sized off-roader to a stunning 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in just 4.5 seconds. To improve the engine performance, the tuner will fit the vehicle with a redesigned hood with a vent, optimized for air intake – along with an air-to-water intercooler, high-flow air induction, upgraded fuel system, and an upgraded stainless steel cat-back exhaust.

Since adventure seekers are going to push the limits of this custom Ford Bronco on inhospitable terrain at high speeds, Hennessey has upgraded the off-road suspension system and fitted the monster with chunky mud-terrain tires around larger aluminum wheels. To make the standard 2021 Bronco owners get jealous, there will be custom livery and exterior badges setting aside this beast from the rest.

Other upgrades to the Bronco will come in the form of front and rear bumpers with LED lighting and a mean-looking front grille. The interiors are also going to get a custom VelociRaptor V8 Interior courtesy of the leather upholstery. The off-roader will come in just 24 units for the 2021 model in 2-door and 4-door configurations for a price tag of $225,000. And yes, it will come with a 3 year/36,000-mile warranty from Hennessey, so you can go on adventurers unknown without having to worry about a thing!
