Designer robo vacuum cleaner may become your new housemate

As a single woman living alone in a modestly sized apartment, one of the things that I promised to buy for myself when I first moved in was a robo vacuum cleaner. Instead of getting an actual, manual vacuum (which I will probably seldom use anyway), I preferred something that would go around and unobtrusively clean the floor space while I watch Netflix or write in my journal. I’ve bought a couple of pretty cheap devices but I’m still not satisfied so I will continue looking for what can eventually be my best cleaning friend.

Design by: Minjuan Yao (from Fabio Verdelli Design Studio)

A new concept design for what they say is the “only designer robot in the world” has caught my attention as it says it will be my “home pal” and it was designed to be by my side. The Sebastiano | cleaning robot actually looks like a weighing scale without the actual scale and is covered by a cute rug. But it’s actually a cleaning device that can vacuum, sweep, and brush any surface whether it’s wood floorings or marbled floors.

Another thing that may appeal to those who dislike those noisy old-school vacuum cleaners is that it is designed to be basically noiseless. So even if you’re watching a show or listening to your podcast, the cleaning motion of the robot should not disturb you, at least sound-wise. But it will apparently suddenly speak when the dust bin is already full and inform you that you need to empty it. The bin itself is triangular shaped and detachable so you won’t have any trouble getting rid of all that collected dust.

The top of the Sebastiano is pretty artsy and may look like an abstract painting hanging on someone’s wall. So if it’s not cleaning around and just sits in the corner of the room, it can look like part of your decoration. Oh and when it’s not in use, it is programmed to go back to its charging port so you won’t trip on it (hopefully). It would probably be cooler if there’s an app that can help you control where it’s moving around or when it starts and stops.

So yes, if this does get made into an actual product, I will definitely add the Sebastiano | cleaning robot to my collection of robo vacuum cleaners. Well, if it won’t break my wallet of course.

The AIRROBO T9 robovac’s latest USLAM Air 5.0™ upgrade makes it an incredibly efficient robot vacuum under $300

Picture this. Your massive Christmas dinner party’s just ended, the guests have left, and what should basically be a cue for you to go to bed after a tiring day, turns into hours of cleaning. Completely exhausted, you just decide to tell your robot vacuum to help you with cleanup and the tiny little device un-docks from its charger, getting to work by sweeping and mopping the floor and deep-vacuum cleaning your carpets. A procedure that would take hours ends up taking mere minutes as all you need to do is wipe the table and load the dishwasher. Life’s good, isn’t it?

Designer: AIRROBO

Click Here to Buy Now: $249 $349 ($100 off). Hurry, offer ends Dec 15th.

Whether it’s the aftermath of a dinner party, a movie night, SuperBowl session, or just a messy day, there’s nothing quite as useful as a good robot vacuum. Equipped with LiDAR sensors that allow it to accurately navigate your house, the AIRROBO T9 makes for a compelling gadget to have at your home. The robot vacuum comes with 3000Pa suction power that handles everything from dust and dirt to even pet hair, and even has a mopping feature that leaves the floor absolutely clean. The AIRROBO T9 efficiently handles carpets and rugs too, detecting when it’s operating on them and immediately boosting the vacuum’s power to deep-clean dirt and dust from in between the carpet’s fibers.

Moreover, AIRROBO even announced the release of USLAM Air 5.0™, a major algorithm upgrade to the T9’s mapping and navigating abilities, letting it work more efficiently while accurately identifying and avoiding objects around the house. The technological upgrade comes from AIRROBO’s parent company, UBTECH Robotics, following 5 years of research and development and uses a combination of laser and visual navigation for high-quality mapping with a larger periphery, while tapping into the T9 robot vacuum’s multiple sensors to also map objects with higher precision on a millimeter level.

This combination gives the T9 a clearer vision of the space and objects within it, allowing it to effectively “think, understand, and respond” to its environment much like humans and advanced robots do. The USLAM Air 5.0 upgrade effectively sets the T9 apart as an incredibly advanced robot that’s still cost-effective, with a price of well under $350.

On the feature front, the T9 leaves little to be desired. The robot vacuum can be controlled via your voice using Alexa or Google Assistant, while the Tuya smartphone app unlocks extra features like letting you assign routines, designate rooms/zones, and even create boundaries or no-go areas. The T9 offers dual cleaning methods, allowing you to install a 400mL water tank or 600mL dustbin to either mop or vacuum depending on your cleaning needs.

The T9 comes with a 5200mAh Li-ion battery that gives it 5 hours of operation on a full charge, and if the robot vacuum detects it’s low on battery, it automatically makes its way back to its charging hub to replenish its battery. For larger rooms, the T9 will automatically charge itself in the middle of a task and resume it from the point it left off when its battery’s been topped off.

At $349, the AIRROBO T9 is perhaps one of the best robot vacuums in its price range; although YD readers can use the coupon code below to get $100 off, bringing the price down to an incredibly reasonable $249.

This robot vacuum doubles as a mop because of its water tanks!

Spring cleaning has now become an everyday thing as we all turn into Monica Geller and wipe down surfaces. As there is no vaccine yet and all we can really do is stay home and make sure that we are keeping it clean so that the virus doesn’t stand a chance in our territory. Along with the spike in the sales for sanitizers and masks, all cleaning products have experienced a surge in demand and the 2020 way to do this is to work harder not smarter – say hello to Everybot Edge!

Robotic vacuums are not new news but Everybot Edge is a home appliance that works for both wet and dry cleaning of hard floors. And if you want to feel like you’ve put in some work then simply switch to the handheld mode and get into the crevices. One of the most interesting features is that this vacuum maneuvers without wheels. It runs on two round, rotating microfibre pads, which are driven by two separate motors; so the robot cleans the floor while moving – similar to when I stepped on two kitchen towels and walked around the space-eating snacks while telling my mom I was cleaning. The best part is you don’t need a dry pad and a wet pad (like Swiffers) because the two containers in the vacuum constantly supply the pads with water. Call this robotic vacuum Hannah Montana because it is the best of both worlds.

The protruding shape of Everybot Edge helps it to reach corners of your home and maybe your heart. It also features anti-collision and fall-protection sensors (something I could use for the days I can’t find my glasses!). Just like an actual adult, I am very excited about this mopping robot because it is versatile, flexible and has high functionality for its compact form.

Everybot Edge is a winner of the Red Dot Design Award for the year 2019.

Clean design for your cleaning products

evoo_cleaner_1

Who’d have ever thought that there was scope for giving the Roomba a beautiful, clean character? The Evoo takes robotic vacuum cleaners and ups their style, with it simple design makeover. The product is still circular, but it looks nothing like a robot designed to vacuum your floors. Instead, the Evoo has a pristine white rim with a wooden top. On the upper surface lies a depression and within that, a tiny bonsai plant. I guess it’s just a beautiful metaphor that the plants cleanse the environment of dirt, and the Evoo does the same with your home!

iRobot buys floorcleaning rival Evolution Robotics for $74 million

iRobot celebrated Roomba's 10th birthday quietly teeing up a $74 million acquisition of rival Evolution Robotics Inc. As part of the deal, Evolution CEO Paolo Pirjanian will become iRobot's new CTO and the Mint and Mint Plus will be folded into the company's stable of Roomba cleaners -- with the deal expected to be fully approved by the fourth quarter of the year.
