LEGO Taxidermied Insect Collection is All About Bugs and Bricks

Some interests are pretty morbid. For instance, I’ve always wondered just what kind of person would want to become a coroner or an undertaker. It’s just weird to me. The same thing applies to people who collect bugs and display them. Seems pretty gruesome to me. I’m just not that fascinated with dead things. However, dead bugs in LEGO? Yeah, I can see how that could be neat.

Insect fans are about to have their bug-loving nerd minds blown by these “taxidermied” LEGO insects. Each detailed LEGO insect was hand-made by Siercon and Coral and put into shadow box insect display cases.

Now this is insect taxidermy that I wholeheartedly approve of.

Star Wars AT-ST Trophy Heads Fit for a Rebel’s Man Cave

Last week we saw mockups featuring taxidermy heads of Star Wars creatures. These AT-ST trophy heads on the other hand are real. Well, they’re not real real, but realer than the Photoshopped images. I’m not saying the images don’t exist, but dammit you know what I mean.

The trophy heads were made by YouTuber Trilda from Star Wars toys that he bought on eBay. He made two AT-ST heads, one from the Battle of Hoth and one from the pivotal battle at Endor.

You can check out larger images of the trophy heads on Trilda’s website (they’re under the Vintage Taxidermy link); head to his YouTube channel for videos. He says in the description of his videos that he’s willing to sell his creations, but I’m not sure if they’re still available and for how much.

Star Wars Taxidermy is Perfect for Jabba’s Palace

Who among us hasn’t dreamed about mounting a Rancor head above their fireplace? The problem is, it isn’t easy to travel to another star system and travel back in time to hunt one down. I guess that’s the problem with all of the Star Wars creatures.

I mean, check out that Bantha head. How awesome does that look mounted above the fireplace?

How about a Wampa head? A Gungan? A Gungan I would love to see. Especially Jar Jar. I have a special place reserved for him just where I can throw stuff at him.

These photos are all from Tauntr and they are all Photoshopped, but I would love to be able to buy these. You hear that Kickstarter? Please someone make this real. If nothing else, I need Jar Jar’s head now.

Man Turns Dead Stuffed Cat Into a Helicopter (WTF?)

cat helicopter1 Man Turns Dead Stuffed Cat Into a Helicopter (WTF?)
In today’s WTF news, a Dutch artist name Bart Jansen has turned his deceased kitty into a flying cat helicopter. The cat, named Orville after the pioneering aviator Orville Wright has become a pioneering aviator cat in his own right. He spread-eagled the taxidermied cat, attached landing skids to it’s belly and a rotor to each of his four paws. I assure you that the Orvillecopter is real and that photo above is not ‘shopped. The proof is right here in this video of the cat copter taking flight:

Now he can fly with the birds. Too bad he’s dead. How about a goldfish? For you R/C nerds this kitty is equipped with a Lotus 580 engine, TURNIGY Plush 30amp Speed Controllers,HobbyKing Multi-Rotor Control Board V3.0 and 4s LiPo. (via the daily news)

Taxidermy Cat Quadcopter is Weirder Than Nyan Cat

Meet Orville the flying feline. He’s half-cat, half-quadcopter, 100% bizarre. I’m not sure if this marriage of dead animal and machine will fly with animal rights groups, but it was done with the consent of Orville’s owner. Besides, we don’t speak cat, so for all we know maybe they actually want to take to the skies.

Watch Orville – I suggest he be renamed Kitty Hawk – do his thing in the video below.

I sense a quadcopter pig incoming.
