The Most Eco-Friendly Bottled Water

With a title like that, I bet some of you just rolled your eyes, but hear me out. Treeson is an eco-friendly, toxin-free, trash eliminating, clean energy making, tree planting, best tasting, purest natural spring water ever. Designer Carlton Solle figured out the current recycling system is flawed so he came up with a new system that produces/recycles the bottles, fills them with spring water, and ships them out. Each bottle comes with a built-in return label so it ends right back at the source. AND a tree is planted for every bottle sold. Cradle to Cradle?

Mujjo Leather Crochet Touchscreen Gloves

Our favorite Dutch soft goods brand is back and at it again with a set of leather crochet touchscreen gloves. We’ve tried other touchscreen friendly gloves before but none come close to the quality of Mujjo. I mean, this is some high quality stuff – something you’d associate with fashion instead of function. This is some Versace Versace Versace sh*t! Pardon the language but I’m feeling hype because WINTER IS COMING and these gloves have arrived just in time to keep my hands warm.

They work flawlessly with almost every touchscreen. I can vouch for this since I own their other touchscreen gloves and they continue to work even after accidentally going through the wash. These leather crochet ones are crafted out of Ethiopian lambskin and Egyptian cotton. The crochet pattern exudes craftsmanship and the whole thing stays on your hand via a leather strap that snaps closed from a matte black leather button.

Dog Accessories Designed by Nendo

Heads or Tails is by far the best looking set of doggy accessories I’ve seen. A three-piece collection, consisting of a dog bed, dishes and toys. The artificial leather bed becomes a little hut when dogs burrow inside it, and a cushion when they lie on top. The ceramic dishes are reversible, with a shallow dish for food on one side and a deeper dish for water on the other, and the silicon rubber ‘bone’ can be reshaped into a ball by tucking in the two ends.

Okay, for serious. Dogs could care less what their “accessories” look like so this is obviously a play for indulgent and style-minded owners. Almost all dog accessories veer towards the cute so it’s nice to see something so outside the proverbial box. I’d buy it. I’d totally buy it whether or not my dog hates it because it looks so damn good. And that reversible bone/ball thing? BRILLS MAN! THAT’S JUST BRILLS!

Goose Down & Quilted Sofa

Brilliant! I absolutely adore this big, cushy, comfy, plushy sofa from Gervasoni. The Nuvola collection consists of a lounge chair and sofa from a multilayer and solid wood frame, upholstered with differentiated density polyurethane foam covered by a goose down and polyester fibre quilting. All this and the covers are removable for easy washing.

Can you imagine coming home after a long ass day from school, work, or whatever it is that stresses you the hell out – plop your big ass onto that there couch, kick up your heels, and just go all fetal until you wake up and realize it’s way past dinner and pretty much bedtime? That’s when you know a nap was really worth it. Totally knocks you out.

I want the whole collection. I want the sofa in grey and lounge chair in blue. Why should the TV take center stage in my living room? It’s all about seating people. Cozy, inviting and I’m sure CRAZY expensive so if anyone at Gervasoni is reading this… hook me up? Cheers!

Smart Mug Displays Temperature, Yay or Nay?

I was browsing through my feeds yesterday morning and found this Kickstarter project that kinda turned me onto the idea of assistive tableware. Imagine plates that tell you to stop eating because you’re fat, or a rice bowl that flashes red whenever you inadvertently stick your chopsticks upright – total faux pas. The Smart Mug displays the current liquid temperature via a series of LED lights.

At first glance, I thought the idea was brilliant. Why? I drink a lot of teas and the most common categories of teas (black, red, white, green, floral) all brew and steep at different temperatures. Take for example white teas. Their delicate leaves scald and go bitter if you pour boiling water over them. Most tea houses use very hot water to brew white teas. Smart Mug helps you know when the optimal temperature has been reached.

I immediately tweeted about it but already received quite a few tweetbacks about how unattractive the design was. Some felt the LED lights looked cheap and the mug itself was aesthetically boring. Others felt there were better solutions. To that end, I’d agree. What do you guys think?
