Star Trek TNG Picard Action Figure: Lets Hope It Can Facepalm

Star Trek TNG’s Captain Jean-Luc Picard is known for many things. He makes it so, drinks tea, earl grey, hot, and facepalms with the best of them. Quantum Mechanix created this awesome 1/6-scale Picard articulated figure that wears the red command uniform.

The action figure really looks like Patrick Stewart, and with 30 points of articulation, you might even get a facepalm out of it. It comes with a cloth uniform, simulated leather boots, a phaser, tricorder, PADD, and a cup of tea.

Interchangeable hands for holding tea, phaser, tricorder, and the make it so point are all included. The action figure sells for $179.99(USD) over at ThinkGeek.

Star Trek: TNG Tunic Replica Raids Picard’s Closet

ThinkGeek has just taken Star Trek: The Next Generation cosplay to warp level 12. If you have always wanted a realistic TNG starfleet uniform that you can wear to cosplay, these replicas have landed just in time for Halloween, and they are awesome.

You can get Picard’s red tunic, or the gold colored version that Data wore. Each of the tunics will set you back $229.99(USD). And that doesn’t even include the communicator badge; you clearly need one to pull off the cosplay effect. You can add that TNG replica communicator for another $19.99. No one said being a Star Trek fanatic would be cheap. Oh, and the pips worn on the collar aren’t included either.

The tunics are offered in S-XL in gold and S-XXL in red. Construction is from cotton and polyester and these are officially licensed Star Trek garb. The pattern for these tunics came from the CBS archives so they are identical to the ones actually used on the show. I never paid that much attention to the clothes the crew wore – I always thought they were one-piece jumpsuits.

Picard Quilt: Make it Sew

Every time I went to my grandmother’s house growing up she was always working on a quilt of one sort or another. She offered to make me quilts multiple times but I didn’t care anything for handmade blankets back in the day. If she were still around, I would be calling her right now to make me one of these Jean-Luc Picard quilts.

Apparently, the owner of a quilt making outfit called Candy Coated Quilts and made his particular blankie using two-inch squares of cloth. How exactly she was able to make this pixelated looking photo of Picard with the squares is beyond my pay grade, but it’s awesome.

The quilt was made for a queen-size bed and required 4,500 fabric squares to complete it. It’s even got the Captain’s Starfleet uniform on the backside. Its creator made it as a wedding gift for a couple of friends who happen to be Trekkies. This is easily the best wedding gift ever.

Star Trek Fatheads Put Sci-Fi Icons on Your Wall

Star Trek purists might not appreciate the fact that I never liked the original series. I liked the original films well enough, but the original TV show was super cheesy in my opinion. I was a huge fan of The Next Generation and him firmly in camp Picard when it comes to choosing sides.

Fathead has been making life-sized vinyl stickers to decorate your walls of athletes, cars, and all sorts of other things for a long time. The company has announced it is now offering Star Trek fatheads with characters and graphics from the original series and TNG.

Whichever Captain you prefer, you’ll be able to choose between a life-size Kirk or Picard. It’s interesting to note that Kirk is only 5′-11″ tall while Jean-Luc is 6-4″ tall – a good 6 inches taller than Patrick Stewart is in real life. Though to be fair, Kirk is slightly kneeling down in his decal.

The series also includes Mr. Spock, the Enterprise from the original series, and logos from the original series. TNG fans can also get commander William T. Riker, Lieutenant Commander Data, Lieutenant Worf, as well as their updated Enterprise. Voyager, DS9 and Enterprise fans are out of luck for now though. Prices for the decals range from $39.99 for a basic starfleet logo up to $99.99 for the characters and ships.
