Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Is Now a Transformer: Ectotron

If you think you’ve collected all of the Transformers toys, think again. There’s one Transformers toy that’s missing from your collection. That’s because the Transformers Generations Collaborative: Ghostbusters Mash-Up, Ecto-1 Ectotron Figure is not available yet.

But you can pre-order it now from GameStop – with shipping starting this July. This is the Transformers/ Ghostbusters mashup you never knew you needed until now. The iconic Ecto-1 Cadillac from the 1984 Ghostbusters movie is now a Transformers robot called “Ectotron.” The 7-inch long figure comes with his own Proton Pack accessory and a Slimer accessory. It converts between Ecto-1 and robot modes in 22 steps. This piece has some great detail and is going to look amazing in your collection whether you display it in Ecto-1 mode or as a robot. I prefer the car to the robot myself.

Who ya gonna call? Hasbro apparently. Now if we could only transform the Ghostbusters reboot into something decent, life would be perfect. Can you help with that Hasbro? I wish you could. But this is a start to helping me forget about it.

Transformers Bumblebee Masterpiece Toy Features His VW Beetle Form

Transformers fans who want a little Bumblebee in their life can get their hands on a Masterpiece Movie Series MPM-7 Bumblebee figure that transforms into a Volkswagen Beetle. The toy looks really cool, and is highly detailed compete with rusty, muddy decoration around the bottom of the car and wheel wells.

The figure features 26 points of articulation, some die-cast parts, and transforms into a 1967 Beetle in 57 steps. It sounds like one of those complex Transformers that lots of kids of the ’80s broke trying to transform. The toy is an official Takara-Tomy/Hasbro product, inspired by the Bumblebee film released at the end of 2018.

It’s available now over on Amazon for $79.99. Bumblebee would go perfectly with your fancy Optimus Prime Masterpiece edition toy we talked about last month.

Transformers Masterpiece Edition MP-44 Optimus Prime is Perfectly ’80s

Growing up, all I wanted in the world for one of my birthdays was an Optimus Prime Transformer. I got it even though it was like $20 back then, which seemed like $100 today. Hasbro’s Transformers Masterpiece Edition MP-44 Optimus Prime (ver 3.0) toy looks exactly like I remember my Optimus Prime, but a much cleaner and higher quality version.

This plastic and die-cast metal toy is designed specifically to look like the ’80s version, not the new Optimus Prime from Michael Bay’s movies. It’s supposed to be the most complete Optimus Prime toy ever, and it certainly looks it.

It can transform to a robot and back to a truck, as it should. It comes with an Ion Blaster, Energon Axe, Starscream head and shoulders, hoses, blast effects, and lots more stuff.

This new version is incredibly expensive at $439.99, and can pre-ordered at Entertainment Earth if you want it as badly as I do. Shipping is set for this month, so you could give this as a Christmas gift… to me.

This Casio G-Shock Watch Transforms into Optimus Prime

Japanese toy maker Takara Tomy has teamed up with Casio to make a very cool watch and watch holder combo. Casio Japan has introduced this special edition G-Shock x Transformers DW-6900TF and it is amazing. This set is being released to celebrate 35 years of G-Shock and the 35th anniversary of Transformers in 2019.

You get a watch with Optimus Prime’s color scheme of red and blue, along with a transformable Optimus Prime figure that doubles as a watch holder. I mean, just look at how cool this thing is. The watch displays in either “pedestal” mode or in robot form. Or you can wear it. The G-Shock 5600 or 6900 also fits in the watch holder too.

The G-Shock x Transformers DW-6900TF-SET will be officially available on December 8, 2018 for 29,000 yen before tax (~$257 USD). I’m hoping they offer some other Transformers watch sets as well. This one is really damn cool. I wouldn’t mind having a few of these lined up on my desk.

The bad news? Well, sadly this is a Japan-only deal. I know. I’m depressed too. Why do they always get me so excited and then pull the Japan-exclusive crap on me? It’s so mean. It’s abuse really. America deserves this too you know.

Guy Makes a Giant-sized Soundwave Boombox

Everyone has their favorite Transformers from the original animated series. For some it’s Optimus Prime, for others it’s Bumblebee or Grimlock, but for many Soundwave is the best Transformer ever. For those fans, this custom Soundwave-shaped boombox is everything.

So what genius made this geek masterpiece? That would be Bob from the YouTube channel I Like To Make Stuff. He makes all kinds of cool stuff so that the rest of us can be inspired. To create this awesome boombox, he used a combination of MDF for the speaker’s housing, foam for the buttons and other non-functional details, and there is also a pair of Bluetooth speakers hidden inside.

Okay, technically Soundwave wasn’t a boombox, but maybe he should have been. It was the ’80s after all. Sadly this thing doesn’t transform, but that’s okay. It is completely awesome just the way it is. It is a non-transformer that will blast tunes wirelessly streamed from your smartphone. Especially if those tunes are from any of the Transformers soundtracks.

Bob really did some great work on this, and all of the details are just perfect. Now if he can just make it transform, it would be absolutely perfect. Get on that Bob.

Kids In Transformers Costumes Are More Than Meets The Eye

Kids love to dress up in costumes, and there’s no better outfit for the little ones than some giant transforming mechs. Check out these three kids showing off their adorable Transformers costumes, which look awesome. There’s Optimus Prime, Starscream and Bumblebee. The costumes are not only perfect, but these kids are pros at the transforming game. They’re much better than in the movies, if you ask me.

They do take a little while to transform, because kids are easily distracted, but once they do, you’ll want to watch it again and again. Sadly, the whole thing was filmed in portrait mode, but at least they caught it on video so the rest of us could see it.

I hope you are paying attention, Michael Bay. Look how well these kids transform. Look at how effortless that is. It looks natural. And Shia Lebouf is nowhere in sight, which I also love. Although I did feel that this vertical video masterpiece could have used more Megan Fox.

This is some next level Transformers action right here. These kids get it done. We know they can transform, now they just have to practice rolling out.

Whoever made these costumes designed them perfectly. And even filmed vertically, this footage beats Michael Bay any day. I would pay to see this in theaters over his stuff.
