Dating Website Giving Away Free Divorces

With so many dating sites in existence, how do you make sure yours doesn’t drift off into digital oblivion?

When faced with this question, Sugardaddie decided the only way to go was to start raffling off free divorces to people who want to be “free.”

SugarDaddie

Yes, it has come to this. People who want to separate from their other half but can’t afford to do so can now hope to win a divorce from the dating site.

SugarDaddie’s CEO Steven Pasternack explained that it was one of his goals to “help people gain real independence in their lives.” Three couples in the areas where the competition is being held will be selected to win a divorce package from LegalZoom.

This has got to be one of the strangest prizes that I’ve seen.

‘Hey Girl’ Puts Ryan Gosling on Every Website

Is your feed full of stupid memes you don’t care for and pictures of your friends’/relatives’/acquaintances’ babies? Are you sick of looking at selfies and random people making that annoying duck face on your Facebook feed?

If the images on your screen are getting too much to take, then you might want to install the Hey Girl app in your browser.

hey girl ryan gosling

Hey Girl automatically swaps out all of the photos on a website with images of Ryan Gosling. There’s some of him acting goofy, there’s a couple of screenshots from movies, and there’s one where he’s canoodling with a girl (don’t you wish that were you?)

Hey Girl

The app was developed by Katherine Champagne when she was at Dev Bootcamp Chicago. At the start, the app involved using Channing Tatum but Katherine eventually switched to Ryan Gosling.

Katherine explains: “I hope that heygirl.io inspires more women to get into web development- there needs to be more of us, ladies! It’s not all math, it’s not boring – as I hope heygirl.io evidences, I’ve found programming to be an incredible creative outlet.”

You can install the Hey Girl bookmarklet or Chrome Extension here.

Gluten-Free Singles Lets You Find Your Gluten-Intolerant Mate

Gluten Free Dating

It’s hard for gluten intolerant people to find their perfect match on regular online dating sites. Not that they’re especially picky or anything, but their diet makes maintaining relationships complicated if their partner isn’t open to making changes to ensure everything is gluten-free. The solution? Just date other gluten intolerant people instead. A dating site that’s aiming to make the process easier and less of a hassle is called Gluten-Free Singles.

I kid you not–the site actually exists. They describe themselves as a dating and networking site “where you never have to feel alone because you are gluten-free.”

Whether you have celiac disease, are gluten intolerant or choose to be gluten free for health reasons, we welcome you to GlutenfreeSingles, a website committed to building a national and global community for those who are gluten free.

Feelday Helps Families Find Fun New Things to Do Together

If you’re running out of ideas for fun stuff to do with your family, then you might want to look to Feelday for some help. It’s touted as a “discovery guide for playful families” that provides suggestions for a variety of activities that every member of your family will enjoy.

feelday

Families can discover new activities “on the fly” and filter their finds according to their moods, schedules, ages, weather, and price. When you first visit the site, you’re prompted to key in your family’s mood, the date when you’d want to go on your next family outing, and your zip code. Feelday will then provide you with some activities scheduled near your area.

Our mission is simple: We help families find great local activities that are right for them. We help families get off of the couch and into the real world.

Feelday is currently available for families living in New York City, Seattle, the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, and Houston, and has a fairly limited number of activities in its database. If you live within these areas, give the service a try and let us know what your experience was like.

Saddest Site Ever? ‘See Your Folks’ Reminds You to See Your Parents… Before They Pass on

See Your Folks is a new website that’s gotten the attention of a lot of people. It’s not a new social network or some photo-sharing site. Rather, it’s a calculator of sorts that lets you know how many times you’re going to see your parents before they die.

It sounds morbid, but that wasn’t the intention of the site creators.

see your folks 1

Co-create Luke Tipping explains: “We believe that increasing awareness of death can help us to make the most of our lives. The right kind of reminders can help us to focus on what matters, and perhaps make us better people.”

That definitely makes sense. It’s kind of like an extension to World Parent’s Day, only it’s not just a day because it essentially encourages everyone to go see their parents more.

Head on over to See Your Folks to see how high (or low) your number is… and do something about it while you still can.

Mealku Lets You Share Your Home-Cooked Meals with the World

Think you’ve got what it takes to be (insert your country of origin here)’s top chef? You might not have your own cooking show or the chance to join some cooking competition, but you can serve people with your signature dishes and earn points (and even cash) while you’re at it.

This is only made possible by Mealku, a homemade meal cooperative.

mealku 1

Mealku operates from NYC but according to their website, the concept can be “introduced wherever people gather.” So here’s how it works: you post meals to earn Ku points, and you order meals to spend Ku points. Accumulate a hundred Ku or more in a month and you get $30 cash back. Each 250 Ku and you get $100 back. There are a bunch of other ways to earn Ku, like reviewing dishes and referring other people to the site. In terms of the meals, Mealku takes care of picking up the food containers and delivering them to other members of the co-op. In addition, Mealku reviews home cooks for cleanliness and proper food sanitation before allowing them into the cooperative.

You might not turn in a hefty profit after all that cooking, but think of it as a reimbursement for the ingredients that you used to put together meals that probably made other people’s day.

Interested? You can head on over to Mealku.com for more information.

Hell is Other People: Antisocial Media

There are times in your life where you just want to be in the company of yourself. Unfortunately, you can’t choose to avoid people when they’re already there, right in front of you, and it’s just rude to walk on by without saying hi or exchanging pleasantries at that point.

Social media is all about getting social and being with people – at least virtually. Antisocial media is the opposite of that, and Hell is Other People is a product of an experiment based on this concept by Scott Garner.

hell is other people map

Hell is Other People is basically a web app that uses data from your Foursquare account to check and determine the current location of your friends, family, and other contacts. It will then map out a route for you that avoids any place where people you know are checked in.

It truly is an app for the antisocial.

Scott did a test run on the app when he took a walk in Manhattan following the “safe zones” marked by Hell is Other People. You can check out what happened (and whether the app was right or not) in the clip above.

‘Hell is Other People’ Helps You Avoid People

Hell is Other Poeple

Feeling anti-social? Now there’s a web app for that. It’s aptly called ‘Hell is Other People’ and it was created by Scott Garner as a web experiment in anti-social media. The service uses data from your Foursquare account to map a route around town or wherever you want to go that will avoid any place or location where your friends are. You know, just in case you’re feeling anti-social and don’t want to run into anyone you know when you’re out and about.

Scott explains that the app “calculates optimally distanced locations” from where your friends have checked in so you can avoid them.

The clip above was recorded by Scott when he took a walk following the path provided by the app. Check it out to see whether the “safe zones” indicated were really safe or not.
