Ryo Reversible USB Adapter: Switch Fighter

When USB Type-C gadgets and ports become commonplace, sticking a USB connector wrong side up will become a thing of the past. Personally I don’t mind. It’s one of those things that remind you that you’re alive. Like when you’re driving home after a long day at work and you see a deep pothole, and you just go for it. Just to see what it feels like. Woah. That got weird. I don’t know how to drive and I work at home. Plus there’s this adapter that makes USB connectors reversible so there really isn’t anything to deal with anymore.

Just stick it into your gadget, flash drive or charger’s connector and you’re done.

Pledge at least $15 (USD) on Kickstarter to receive three Ryo adapters – two black, one white – as a reward. Watch out for those potholes.

ConsoleTuner Titan One Controller Adapter: Mix, Match & Mod

We’ve featured a few specialized hacks and adapters that let you use a different controller on one gaming platform. But ConsoleTuner’s Titan One adapter might be able to fulfill several of your controller needs at once – even the ones you never thought you had. For starters, it lets you use an Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360 or PS3 controller with any of those other consoles, such as plugging in a DualShock 4 on the Xbox One.

But thanks to its programming software and mod community, the Titan One can do so much more. It can even let you play with Wii controllers or the ol’ mouse and keyboard combo on the aforementioned consoles. You’ll also be able to remap buttons and sticks using the software. Finally, you’ll be able to download or create mods and macros that make it easier to play certain games, which I guess is a double-edged sword. On the one hand those mods can be used to cheat in multiplayer games. On the other hand it could make it easier for disabled gamers to play.

Here’s a comprehensive review and walkthrough by YouTuber JoltReviews:

That’s a jack of all trades all right. The PS4 reconnection flaw could be a dealbreaker for some, but overall I think the Titan One is an incredibly useful tool. You can order the Titan One adapter from ExtremeMods for $60 (USD) or from Amazon for about $64. Head to ConsoleTuner’s website to learn more about the adapter.

Cyber Gadget Adapter Lets You Use PS3 & PS4 Controllers on Wii & Wii U: QuadShock

There are adapters that let you use the PS2’s DualShock 2 controller with the Wii and Wii U. It appears there will be a similar adapter that will connect the PS3, PS4 and other USB controllers to Nintendo’s consoles. It comes with a lot of disclaimers though.

Cyber Gadget claims that its adapter will let you use the DualShock 3, DualShock 4 as well as other USB controllers and joysticks with the Wii and Wii U via the Wiimote’s expansion port. However, the company doesn’t guarantee that this will work with all games. Cyber Gadget also warns that future software updates could render the adapter useless.

Cyber Gadget’s adapter is available for pre-order on Amazon Japan for ¥2894 (~$26 USD) and will be released on 11/30. You should look for reviews before getting one though.

Check Out Dart, The World’s Smallest Laptop Adapter

Dart Laptop Charger

If you work out of the office a lot, then chances are you’ve had to deal with lugging a bulging laptop bag around because of the bulky adapter that it came with. Leaving it really isn’t an option, considering there’s only so much–or rather, so little–that you can do on limited power. It’s a problem people face, day in and day out, and it’s one that the folks behind Dart pretty much solved with its release.

Dart is dubbed as the “world’s smallest laptop adapter” and that might very well be true if you look at the images of it. It’s roughly four times smaller than the average 65W charger, with a volume of only 2.5 cubic inches. It comes with a six foot cable and comes with an integrated USB port, allowing you to charge your laptop and another device, like you tablet, at the same time.

The catch: Dart’s output is 18-21 Volts and can only be used with devices that require 65W or less, so that makes some laptops and tablets incompatible with it.

Dart is up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $89 will get you one of your very own.

Another Adapter For The Blind!

Yes, its yet another socket fixture, but there is a lot of innovative factors in the Blind Adapter. The extension is designed to fit with existing electrical outlets and has an annular magnetic electrode so that the plug stays fixed onto the socket. Convenient Braille tags allow one to identify the appliance being plugged in, just to be double sure!

Blind Adapter is a 2014 iF Design Concept entry.
