All Dock Universal Charger For Your Smartphones and Tablets

All Dock

Gadgets have become nearly permanent fixtures in people’s lives these days. Without their phones, music players, or tablets, some people feel incomplete, ill at ease, or inconvenienced, and it makes sense, considering how these devices are used. It’s fine and dandy if you’ve got a few dozen outlets at home, but if you’ve only got a limited number of them (like most people do), then keeping these gadgets powered up can become quite a hassle.

One solution is the All Dock. It’s a charging dock for multiple devices so the number of chargers you’ll need for multiple gadgets drops down to one. It’s compatibility with gadgets from multiple manufacturers, including Apple, Android, Samsung, Sony, HTC, Kindle, Nokia, and Huawei, is a definite plus.

The All Dock boasts of a 2400mA per USB exit, so your phone will be charged up to 80% in less than sixty minutes. In addition to the slots, the dock also comes with active USB hubs.

The All-Dock will be compatible with the most common standard connectors like Lightning, 30-pin, micro-USB, etc. which can all be attached to the 4x or 6xUSB hub.

The All Dock is currently up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $59 will get you one of your very own.

If You Like It, Then You Better Put a Smarty Ring On It

Smarty Ring

If smart watches are too bulky for your taste, then how about a smart ring? That’s what the folks behind the aptly-named Smarty Ring are working with. Currently in development, the ring connects via Bluetooth to your iOS or Android smartphone. Alerts for new messages, calls, new email messages, and the like will be flashed on the ring’s display. For social media addicts, updates from Facebook, Twitter, Hangout, and Skype can also be displayed.

Aside from connectivity, it allows users to track the location of their device (if it goes missing) and control it remotely. The Smarty Ring raised about $300,000 on Indiegogo last December, with delivery slated for April 2014. If you missed out on the campaign, then you can still pre-order the ring for $175.

thingCHARGER Lets You Literally Pile On the Chargers

Thingcharger

Running out of outlets to plug in your chargers for all of your devices? Then you might want to check the thingCharger out. It’s a portable outlet-slash-charger of sorts that lets you still use an outlet while you’re charging your device. The cool thing is that it’s stackable, so you can charge one, two, three or more devices in a single outlet and still be able to use that outlet for something else.

Foldio is the First Foldable Studio for Smartphones

Foldio

Most smartphones are equipped with shooters that rival digital cameras. In fact, some phones capture images that are better than those captured using digital cameras, giving rise to something called Phoneography. Studios are built for standalone cameras, so isn’t it high time for smartphone camera subjects to have their own studios, too?

Orange Monkie seems to agree with this, which is why they came up with Foldio. It’s dubbed as the “first foldable studio for smartphones” and its creators boast that users will be able to take studio-quality pictures with the ultra-portable studio.

Foldio is easy to assemble, thanks to magnets holding various parts in place. The embedded LED lights provide ample lighting, while the background sheet provides a flawless backdrop for your images.

Foldio is currently up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $34 will get you one of your very own.

Send Messages Without Internet or a Cell Service with TinCan

TinCan

Most messaging services these days use your cell service or the Internet. But if you find yourself in a place with fluctuating signals and no Internet, then an alternative you can consider is TinCan. It’s an app that lets you send messages to other TinCan users who are within WiFi range, which is about 100 feet.

So how does it work? Well, the app appears as a WiFi hotspot with the ssid TinCan_(randomID) to users who don’t have the app. When the app detects someone with TinCan nearby, it automatically exchanges messages that they don’t have in common. That said, the messages are public, with its developer describing it as being “akin to Twitter or IRC.”

Users can subscribe to other TinCan users to receive their messages, which are limited to 220 characters and currently have a lifespan of 90 days.

TinCan was successfully funded on Kickstarter last April and can now be downloaded for free from Google Play.

AppSeed Promise to Turn Your App Mock-ups into Working Prototypes

AppSeed is probably the handiest app you can have if you’re into creating apps. It’s an up-and-coming app that turns mock-ups and sketches of your app into a functioning prototype.

But let’s backtrack a little.

AppSeedmagnify

Normally, the application development process begins with conceptualizing the app and working out use cases. Once the idea is fully formed, it’s time to bring out the pen and paper to create wireframes and sketches of the app’s interface. For most, the next step involves hiring a developer to create a functional prototype. This is where AppSeed comes in.

At this point, you just take a picture of your app sketches, and fire the app up to let it get to work.

The use of computer vision speeds up the process and understands your sketches. AppSeed can identify an enclosed space in your sketch, allowing you to make it into a button, input text, map, or another UI element – making your sketch into a functioning prototype running on your phone.

AppSeed is up for funding on Kickstarter through tomorrow (10/9), where a minimum pledge of $8 CAD (~$7.25 USD) will get you access to the app once released.

KnowRoaming is the Smarter, Cheaper, and Easier Way to Roam

KnowRoaming

One tip that frequent travelers dole out to non-frequent travelers is this: buy a local SIM the moment you land, because international roaming rates will be the death of your wallet. Local SIMs are usually sold for cheap and even though you might not consume all the credits from your initial top up, at least you won’t be slapped with atrocious roaming rates by your regular network.

There used to be no alternative to this–but that was before KnowRoaming came along. KnowRoaming is a sticker that you’re supposed to stick onto your SIM card using the included applicator. Once affixed, you’ll be able to connect with local networks wherever you are in the world by firing up the KnowRoaming app.

KnowRoaming1

KnowRoaming has already made deals with over 220 networks all over the world, so you’re more or less guaranteed a local connection–without having to buy a local SIM. When you’re ready to make a call, send a text, or use data services, just fire up the app and key in what you currently need to check out the rates.

What happens is our smart sticker will detect that you are travelling outside your home network (i.e. roaming) and will switch you onto our KnowRoaming network. Furthermore, you do not need to worry about missing calls and SMS from people back home because you will receive all calls and SMS from your home cell number.

KnowRoaming is compatible with both iOS and Android devices, but will only work on unlocked units. It’s currently available for pre-order at $35.

Kapture is a Wristwatch That Records Your Every Word

Kapture

Want a record of everything that you’ve said? You can either call the NSA or slap this contraption on your wrist. Obviously the former isn’t an actual option, so your best bet is Kapture. It’s a wristwatch-slash-wearable audio recorder that records your every word. The catch is that it only has enough memory to store 60 seconds of sound, so you can only go back and listen to the last minute of your immediate past on playback.

Kapture constantly and continuously records audio. Given its limited storage, it is also continuously erasing data and recording over previous recordings, too. Its creators are seeking $300,000 for seed funding and will be launching the project on Kickstarter on September 3rd.
