iHeart Locket Isn’t the Key to Anyone’s Heart, But It’s the Key to an iPad Diary App

Remember when you were a kid and you had this secret diary that your little brother would always try to sneak a peek at? Well, probably only the girls can relate, and while I had no brother, I did have a sister who constantly snooped around my stuff.

So if you have a little girl in the house and want to save her the trouble of having to fight for her privacy, you might want to get her the iHeart Locket. That’s if she already has an iPad.

The iHeart works in conjunction with the iHeart Locket Diary app for iOS. The app is essentially a digital diary that lets your little girl write her deepest thoughts and secrets. The app also lets her insert images and scribble down notes and doodles when she feels like it.

The locket functions as the diary’s key. It transmits a unique code that keeps the diary private, so only its wearer can read the diary. In addition, if anyone comes along, a button on the locket can be pressed and anything written on the screen will be kept hidden away from prying eyes.

The iHeart Locket is being sold for $24.95(USD), while the app can be downloaded for free from the iTunes App Store.

Days Keeps a Visual Diary on Your iPhone

Time flies by so fast. It seems like it was only yesterday when I was complaining about homework in high school… Or hanging out with friends in college… Or scrambling for my first job interview a few weeks after graduation… The human brain can only remember so much. And it’s often the seemingly insignificant memories in between these huge milestones that sometimes define and give context to the life that you have lived so far.

If you’re looking for something to help you remember your days before they pass you by, then look no further than the aptly named Days app for iOS.

days visual diary app

It’s a visual diary of sorts which lets users document their day by snapping photos or with animated GIFs. Days supports emoji, so users can create animated GIFs from photos that have been taken in rapid succession. You can also share your days with friends if you so choose.

Days can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store. Fret not if you’re using an Android device, because the app’s developers are currently working to bring Days to other platforms.

According to gameshirts702, the seller, there are only four of these in existence. All were created as part of a viral marketing campaign for the release of BioShock 2. You can see this rarity in action in the video clip below:

Why would the seller ever part with something as cool as this? He has hit some hard times financially and hopes that this sale will help. The auction is up to $2,600(USD) as of this writing and I’m sure it will go higher. It’s a super nice piece of video gaming history. Get your bid in before March 31st when it ends.

Windows 8 upgrade diary: gaming and performance

Windows 8 upgrade diary: gaming and performance

It's been a brisk and mostly enjoyable two weeks since the launch of Windows 8 and the start of this diary. Whereas my last entry was all about productivity, there's now been ample opportunity to relax with the new OS, play a few titles in Steam, and run some general performance benchmarks. These not-so-onerous tasks were completed using an AMD FX-based triple-monitor gaming rig upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro, with all games running at 5,760 x 1,080 and max detail settings, and all the hardware was kept constant to allow a before-and-after comparison. You'll find the results after the break, along with a few broader impressions of what Windows 8 might mean for an early-adopting desktop gamer.

Samsung files patent for auto-generating life diary, Mayans didn’t see it coming

Samsung files patent for auto-generating life diary, Mayans didn't see it coming

If the minutiae of people's lives crowd your feeds and drives you to frustration, you really won't be wanting this Samsung patent application to be approved. The USPTO filing outlines a process for creating a "life diary" by collecting all manner of information about your daily routine from your smartphone. Data such as where you've been, what the weather was like, what you've been listening to, et cetera, would be spun out in computer-generated sentences and compiled into a story of your day. Although it would lack the romanticism of a traditional, hand-written diary, we could see it having some use as a mundane log -- as long as you're happy for all that info to be recorded, that is. However, if this ever comes to fruition with sharing options, to boot, all the pictures of food, coffee house check-ins and FarmVille updates would seem insignificant in comparison. Some things, like the last time we sang along with the Bieb, are better left unshared.

Autographer Keeps Track of Your Life in Pictures

Life can get pretty hectic sometimes. There’s school if you’re a student, work if you’re already working, and work plus school if you’re getting a graduate degree while doing some hard labor. With all the stuff you have to do on a daily basis, your life can pass you by, if you’re not careful.

So why not get one of these Autographers when they come out, so you can keep track of your life and see if you’re living the kind of life you’ve always wanted to live?

Autographer0

The Autographer is a wearable camera that automatically captures images based on the data that its five sensors – specifically, a magnetometer, color sensor, infrared detector, accelerometer, and thermometer. It uses this data, along with a special algorithm to automatically snap images of meaningful changes throughout the day (and your life).

Autographer

Like a miniature version of the life-recording camera from several years back, the Autographer was originally created for users with dementia, so they can remember what they’ve been doing easily. But fortunately, some people convinced its creater, OMG, to also make it available to consumers.

The Autographer is priced at £399 (~$649 USD) and will launch in the UK this November. Launches for Japan and the US will follow afterward.
