Unwired View and prolific leaker @evleaks have jointly doled out what are reportedly specs for a handset codenamed the HTC M7, the supposed successor of the One X. Headlined by a 4.7-inch 1080p "SoLux" screen with 468ppi, the LTE-toting smartphone is said to offer improved viewing angles, color accuracy and outdoor visibility. On the imaging front, the device is listed with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera leveraging a f/2.0 lens and support for 1080p, slow-mo and HDR video recording. There's also mention of a front-facing 2-megapixel shooter capable of capturing footage in 1080p. As for internals, the phone is believed to be outfitted with a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in memory. Stereo speakers and a Beats amplifier should tag along as well, in addition to support for 802.11ac WiFi. The phone is expected to make its way to at least Sprint and Verizon with Jelly Bean and Sense 5 onboard, but an official reveal won't reportedly happen until Mobile World Congress this coming Spring.

We just love HTC's One X here at Engadget -- it's quite possibly our favorite smartphone of 2012. Three devices have crossed our desks over the past year -- the original with HSPA+, AT&T's model with LTE and, more recently, the global One X+ with HSPA+. Now the saga continues with AT&T selling its own version of the One X+ with LTE on board. What's different between these handsets? How does AT&T's $200 variant stack up against its global counterpart? Is it worth spending an additional $100 (or more) for AT&T's One X+ versus the original One X? Swisscom rolls out first LTE in Switzerland on November 29th

The European LTE landscape is unfortunately a fragmented one that favors large countries with large carriers. We can chalk up at least one victory for the smaller nation states, however: Switzerland is getting its first LTE network on November 29th. The country's main provider, Swisscom, is launching initial 4G coverage in 26 cities and regions using the LTE-equipped HTC One X (One XL abroad), quickly following up with the early December availability of the Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II and Nokia Lumia 920. A Huawei USB stick and a ZTE hotspot will also be on tap. Customers won't need to spring for a new plan to use the new network on a basic level, although Swisscom's uncommon speed-based phone plans mean they'll be paying a stiff 169 francs ($181) per month to max out the 4G network. We imagine at least some will bite if it means speedy data in Zurich.

HTC requires more than 512MB of RAM for Jelly Bean updates, One V and Desire C to stay on ICS

HTC's reassured us in a freshly updated FAQ that the One X and One S will continue seeing Jelly Bean updates as soon as carrier testing is finished, and it's also given us some insight into how it decides which smartphones will get the Android 4.1 treatment. The word is mum on exactly which other phones will be graced with the flavor of Android in question and Sense 4+, but the firm is reviewing its 2012 handsets to determine which are eligible. Two phones that didn't make the cut are the One V and Desire C, since HTC generally requires devices to pack more than 512MB of RAM in order to receive Jelly Bean. As for smartphones released in 2011, they'll also be considered once this year's hardware is evaluated. Chou and Co. also noted that they plan to post "generic development ROMs" of Jelly Bean for the One X and One S to its developer website as soon as they're fully baked. HTC One X sees Jelly Bean rollout in Taiwan and Singapore, One S update reportedly coming soon

We've known for months that HTC intends to upgrade the One X to Jelly Bean, but now it appears the update is finally going live, at least for folks in Taiwan. Members of the XDA Developers forum are chiming in about a 352.87MB OTA update that's available within both HTC's home country and Singapore, which brings Android 4.1.1 and HTC Sense 4+ to the One X. Jelly Bean's appearance for the handset matches an earlier report from Engadget Chinese of an incoming update promised by HTC Taiwan. According to PocketDroid, general manager of HTC North Asia, Jack Tong, announced that One X users within Asia will see the update begin to roll today, and that the One S will also receive Jelly Bean a tad later. We've reached out to HTC to verify Mr. Tong's comments, and for clarification of specific regions throughout Asia.
