Funko A Christmas Story PEZ Dispensers: You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out, Kid

Christmas might be 6 months away, but it’s never too early to start thinking about what gifts to buy. Funko is showing off what could be the best stocking stuffer of 2019, a pair of PEZ dispensers based on the holiday classic A Christmas Story. Funko recently started popping the cartoon heads from its POP! figures onto PEZ dispensers, and these ones of Ralphie are two of my favorites so far.

They’re teasing two limited edition PEZ versions of the kid with a simple holiday wish of a Red Ryder carbine action two-hundred shot range model air rifle (with a compass in the stock). In his first PEZ incarnation, Ralphie looks like a pink nightmare in the fuzzy bunny outfit that Aunt Clara made for him. The only thing missing here are the fuzzy slippers to complete the deranged easter bunny look.

The other design features PEZ head Sheriff Ralphie as he say Adios to Black Bart and his evil posse at the business end of Old Blue. Cheese it boys! The jig is up!

Both A Christmas Story PEZ dispensers are due out this October, and you can pre-order them now over at Entertainment Earth for $4.99 each.

Alien PEZ Dispenser: In Space, No One Can Hear You Chew

PEZ has always been a bit of a mixed blessing for me. The dispensers were so much better than the candy inside. It’s like the guys who made the candy said “our candy kind of sucks, what can we do to sell it to kids?” The answer? Stick it in a container with a flip-top character head, and you’ll sell billions. And that they did.

And while there are tons of really cool collectible Pez dispensers out there, this Alien PEZ dispenser had to be made by a fan, since the candy company never released one of their own.

It was made a few years back by Peter “Rat D” Davidson, and there’s not much to be said about this thing other than the fact that it’s a) awesome and b) PEZ needs to get on the phone with H.R. Giger and Ridley Scott today and see if they can work out a licensing deal.

The only thing better would be if it actually spit out another little Alien head inside before the candy came out. And acid.

Childhood Dream Come True: PEZ Dispensers Personalized with Your Face

I used to have the largest collection of PEZ dispensers among my friends – that is, before our dog discovered my stash and chewed them all to unrecognizable bits. While I mourned the loss of my collection, I was sick with relief that our dog didn’t choke on the tiny plastic parts.

If you have a long and rich history with PEZ like I do, then no doubt you’ll find the idea of having a PEZ dispenser featuring your face a fun one.

Before anything else, yes, it is possible, and yes, it’s been done (fairly recently) before. Hot Pop Factory had a client who wanted to give their employees a customized holiday gift in the form of – you guessed it – PEZ dispensers with their faces on them.

So how’d they do it? Hot Pop Factory co-founders and designers Matt Compeau and Bi-Ying Miao used an Xbox Kinect motion-sensor to scan the head of each recipient of the gift and then used a 3D printer to print out the PEZ dispenser replica heads.

Now that’s what I call a truly personalized present. PEZ needs to start offering this as a service on their website immediately.
