3D Printer Hacked Into Sandwich Making Robot

Sandwiches: what would I do without them? Probably starve, or at least go hungry for lunch. Well, now mechanical engineer Yuto Kuroki of Meiji University in Tokyo has made the entire sandwich-making process easier, thanks to a 3D printer that’s been modded into a 3-axis robotic manipulator. Extra cheese, please!

The robot is capable of picking up and placing a piece of bread, picking up and adding meat, slicing and dispersing cucumber, then adding a top piece of bread and cutting the whole sandwich in half. Unfortunately not diagonally, making the sandwich almost inedible as far as I’m concerned.

I particularly liked how the robot regularly detaches and attaches a different functional head to its arm depending on its current task (e.g. picking something up, cutting, etc.). That’s a clever design. Now it just needs mustard and mayonnaise squirting capabilities and I won’t have to beg my mom to make my lunch for me every morning, although I will miss the encouraging handwritten notes.

Subway Making a Green Eggs and Ham Sandwich

The Dr. Seuss classic, Green Eggs and Ham is one of the greatest children’s books ever, written to encourage kids to open their minds and try new things. I love the book but, I’m skeptical about Subway’s new ham ‘n’ cheese sandwich “homage” featuring egg patties with – yep, you knew it was coming – green yolks.

The temporary menu item was created to coincide with the launch of Netflix’s new animated series, Green Eggs and Ham, starring Adam Devine as Sam I Am, Michael Douglas as Guy I Am, and produced by Jared Stern (The LEGO Batman Movie, The Watch). The avocado green yolks have been colored using spinach (and food dye, we suspect). It tops a stack of sliced deli ham, American cheese, guacamole, spinach and tomato on Italian-style bread roll.

Picky eaters may not mind that it’s only available in New York and Los Angeles at Subway shops. For those with a snack attack emergency, The Hambulance will make a series of November stops in Phoenix, New Orleans, Atlanta and New York City, but that’s it. On the bright side, Subway’s verdant concoction isn’t likely to cause riots like Popeye’s chicken sandwich.

Bread Suitcase is Probably Jam Packed

bread suitcase Bread Suitcase is Probably Jam Packed
Don’t be jelly of this suitcase. It looks like she’s all bready to go on a trip. Obviously packing is the yeast of her problems with this bread luggage. I really knead that bag but I can’t tell if this bread suitcase costs a lot of dough or not. It’s probably jam packed with all her clothes sandwiched in there. Believe it or not, it’s actually filled with peanut butter and jelly:

Boo…was kinda hoping it was actual luggage and not an art project from Andy Yoder. Yes we just booed a sandwich- sorry. Still cool though.
