Self-repairing roads could also charge your electric car

Potholes are bad enough for the jarring rides, car damage and safety hazards they create, but it's also problematic to fix them. You're looking at lane and road closures that can last for days, assuming the city can even spare the resources. Howeve...

The No-Flood Storm Drain

Flooded streets can be catastrophic for travelers and emergency personnel alike, so Noè is a project that explores innovation in urban roadways by introducing a new, more effective storm drain. Implementable to existing drain systems, the design does more than provide drainage for excess water. It also separates large and small debris for better clog prevention and easy removal while an internal rotary mechanism creates a whirling action that draws waste-free water into the pipe system. The result is easier maintenance and more reliable drainage.

Home For The Homeless

By day, the Homeless Haven is like any regular park bench and by night it can transform into a temporary shelter. Designed like an expanding accordion, the bench simply elevates and extends into a cozy shelter, giving refuge from the elements. Smart!

Light Direction In Floods

The Safety Light is a lighting system that kicks into action once the streets get flooded and are under water. As a thumb rule its safer not to use vehicles during this time, but these lights are meant for those folks who are simply stuck and need to move out of harm’s way. The design combines LED, an H2O battery and traditional Cat Eyes Road Studs.

Rain water activates the H2O battery’s energy to light the LED light beams, creating a road guide that can lead car drivers safely through flooded areas, reducing accidents during heavy rainfall.
