Even if you have a toilet paper roll holder installed in your bathroom, chances are that every now and then you simply stand up your roll on some bathroom surface rather than replace the old one. Unfortunately, this means bacteria and dust can make their way to your bum! The solution? A toilet paper roll that’s easily extendable to keep the paper elevated from the surface.

It’s available from Etsy artist The Taj Mahalo for just $20(USD), and can be had in black, grey, or the most appropriate invader color – green.

Nothing sucks more than looking up to realize that you’ve only got a few squares of TP left after doing a massive number 2. The RollScout aims to save the day, though, by alerting people in the household when the toilet paper levels are in a dangerously low level. If you missed the alert on your smartphone, then the RollScout’s blinking LED light will remind you of that fact so you can replace the old roll before doing your thing.

The RollScout can run on a single A23 battery for an entire year, so maintaining it shouldn’t be a pain at all. Aside from home use, it’s ideal for businesses who don’t want to turn patrons off for the lack of fresh TP.

The RollScout is up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $49 will get you one of your very own.

The horrific tales are penned by Koji Suzuki, who’s known for writing the “Ring” and “Spiral” series. They’re sold in sets of three, with each one featuring a different story.

Back in October of last year we wrote about a toilet paper roll made entirely from 22 carat gold that sold for $1.3 million. Now we bring you news of the poor man’s version of gilded toilet paper: a $246 gold embossed roll. To be honest, this product seems far more real than the other one, since you’re still looking at actual toilet paper. Each design is custom made by German Fritz Loibl for his company, Tissue Design in Grafenau, Germany. Once embossed, the roll is shipped to you, wherever you are.
