Guy Builds Robot Tongue to Lick His Computer Screen

There are lots of lonely people out there, and when these people get crafty with robots, all kinds of creepy things can happen. You see, Japanese YouTuber Mansooon0 likes to lick his computer screen as a way to “worship” his favorite anime characters. Sounds reasonable.

Necessity truly is the mother of invention. Mansooon0 got tired of always wiping saliva off his screen, so he came up with a solution. No, he didn’t just stop acting like a weirdo and keep his tongue in his mouth. Instead, he built a simple device to do the screen licking for him. A robot tongue. You might call it a Tongue-inator.

He used a servo motor, a realistic silicone tongue and some Arduino circuitry to build it. Creepy yet effective, this robot tongue will lick Anime girls all day long, right up until the cops come and ask to see your album of newspaper clippings. You know, the ones with the headlines that line up with the string of recent disappearances in your area.

Georgia Tech’s Tongue Drive wheelchair proves quicker than traditional breath controls

Georgia Tech tongue-controlled wheelchair

Georgia Tech researchers believed that tongue-controlled devices could help the disabled, and now they have solid proof. A new study shows that the school's wearable Tongue Drive System lets the paralyzed control wheelchairs three times faster than they would using an ordinary breath-based approach. The speediness is due to TDS' intuitive design, Georgia Tech says -- wearers use a magnetic piercing in their tongue as a joystick, which is both faster and more logical than puffing into a straw. It's subtler, too, as wearers don't block their faces with as much equipment. Trials have so far been limited to hospitals and labs, but the findings pave the way for real-world tests. Eventually, Georgia Tech hopes for widespread use that improves tetraplegics' mobility -- and gives them more control over their lives.

T2T Tongue to Teeth is a Tongue-Mounted Toothbrush

This isn’t the first time that someone tried to reinvent the toothbrush. Remember the Rolly rolling toothbrush, where you were supposed to pop one into your mouth and chew to ‘brush’?

The T2T Tongue to Teeth toothbrush takes a page from Rolly, only the T2T is meant to be mounted on your tongue.

Tongue Toothbrush

The Tongue to Teeth toothbrush is meant to help people freshen their breath and brush their teeth when they’re on the go and can’t use their hands, ie. like when they’re driving or walking to their next meeting after lunch. The T2T has been designed to be disposable and has toothbrush built into it, so you really don’t need to do anything else except slip it over your tongue and lick your teeth.

I wouldn’t recommend this to people who have poor gag reflexes. It doesn’t look like the most comfortable thing to put over your tongue either. I don’t even want to think about sizing issues; I highly doubt one sizes fits all. I mean, what about the people with tongues that are fatter than the average?

What do you think?

Tongue-Controlled MP3 Player Makes You Look Like a Bond Villain

Remember that Bond villain named Jaws? Maybe his teeth weren’t all about biting steel cables and whatnot. Maybe he was just listening to some tunes through his mouth. His evil employer might have just gotten this new gadget a few decades early. Yes, this thing plays music through your teeth.

mp3 player

The tongue controlled MP3 player comes from concept designer Aisen Caro Chacin. It lets you listen to your favorite music using bone conduction. Chacin calls it the Play-A-Grill. The grill sits on your teeth and sound is transmitted using bone conduction through your skull. Only you can hear the music as long as your ears are plugged.

There’s no word on price, but it must be expensive since it seems like it would need to be fitted to the individual as well. And wouldn’t your tongue keep hitting the buttons by accident?
