Guy Cracks 150 Walnuts with His Head, Sets New World Record for Headaches

His friends now call him Paulie Walnuts, not because of The Sopranos, but, well you see why. The Guinness World Records series Spotlight posted the official video of Muhammed Rashid of Pakistan as he breaks the world record for “Most Walnuts Cracked Against the Head in One Minute”. We are talking 150 walnuts.

This crazy and amazing feat occurred back in February 2014 at the Punjab Youth Festival. Interestingly, more than 30 Guinness world records have been broken in the last three years there. Must be something in the water.

Rashid’s record crushed the old one which was just 44 walnuts. That guy just wasn’t as nuts as this one. It hurts my head just watching it.

This Walnut Looks Like Chewbacca

As tough as Wookiees are, even they have trouble cracking walnuts. Walnuts are tough. The toughest walnut ever? That would be this Chewbacca walnut, presumably created by midichlorians. Wookiee nuts have been known to rip the arms off of those who try to open them.

That’s right, I said Wookiee nuts and I refuse to make the obvious joke. This happy and cartoony looking Chewbacca was found in Ripplin’s backyard, where he has a huge black walnut tree that channels the force and make prophesy come true.

I just know that if you plant this in the ground, a Wookiee tree will grow. Because I believe in that kind of magic.

Hacoa Wooden USB Hub House

hacoa usb hub house Hacoa Wooden USB Hub House
The Hacoa Wooden USB Hub House is a handsome little house for your USB devices to plug into. Instead of a row of windows running up the front, it has USB ports. Sure, the view ain’t as pretty, but your gadgets can get powered this way. You can run the cable through “door”. The wood material is a far cry from your standard sterile plastic or metal computer accessories.

Available in maple, walnut, or purpleheart woods. The Hub House is imported from Japan (and thus priced up there) but if you need a USB hub on your desktop and you want something with a clean cozy design, this might work for you. Plus, you gotta respect wood, right Larry?

Mini Koo Non-Electric Speaker

I really like the clean simplicity of the design for this Mini Koo Non-Electric Speaker. Essentially it’s just a wooden amplifier but a beautifully crafted one at that. It’s made from walnut and fits all iPhone sizes to increase the volume of your music without cords or electricity. Very elegant.

Steampunk iPad Case with Bluetooth Keyboard

Greetings Victorian time travelers and fans of the steam age design ethos. Please have a gander at this stunning Steampunk iPad Case and Bluetooth Keyboard. Handmade by John Dunn, the old fashioned way (whatever that means, but it takes 25 days to complete your order), this elegant case features a non-functional pressure dial and thermometer on top along with intricate copper tubing that also does nothing. But don’t worry, there is function!

The keyboard is a fully functioning bluetooth keyboard with the same English walnut finish as the lid. The top and bottom are hinged, but do separate in case you want to use them apart or use the keyboard with some other device beside your iPad 3 (which fits in right atop the patterned wallpaper on the top half).

John actually calls this case the “iCog Hades” to strike fear into the hearts of all Apple haters (or something like that). Nice work. It costs the very oddly specific price of $424.

STRUT LaunchPort Costs Twice as Much as Your iPad, Doesn’t Make It Twice as Good

I’ll admit that this thing doesn’t cost twice what my iPad cost, because I have the 64GB 4G version, but it’s still very expensive. The question is, is it worth it? This system is from a company that specialized in luxurious automotive accessories, but decided to create something for the mobile computing sector as well.

strut launch port inductive charging

The STRUT LaunchPort is basically a fancy docking stand for your iPad. There’s a matching case that will allow you to charge your iPad inductively, which means that there are no wires involved. It’s handcrafted from stainless steel, and triple-coated in chrome. The case comes in walnut burl, carbon fiber, leopard print or sparkle pink. While it does look pretty good, I’m not sure it’s worth the $1,250 (USD) sticker price. Does it make you feel any better to know the dock is $1,000 and the case is $250? Didn’t think so.

Nevertheless, it will go on sale later this month. I guess it’s something to consider if you’ve got money to burn. From the photos, the accompanying case looks quite heavy, especially if it’s made out of walnut. I wonder how heavy it will make your iPad.

Massive Horn iPhone Amplifier

Riiicola! As much as I’d like to ridicule the outsized proportion of this Natural Acoustics iPhone Amplifier Massive Horn iPhone Amplifier compared to the iPhone, it is admittedly a gorgeous piece. Made of ceramic, this handcrafted passive amplifier projects music via it’s natural horn curvature shape without any power. The horn speaker sits atop a walnut base. The whole thing just looks pretty stunning, a functional conversation piece for your living room or bedroom. At $499, it’s not too bad if you consider it as both a decoration object and a speaker.
