Toasting bread properly has never been a problem for me. You can adjust how dark you want your bread with a knob or lever. No need to involve your smartphone. Despite this fact, Griffin has unveiled a Bluetooth-enabled “smart” toaster.
It will cost you about $100 and is called the “Connected Toaster”. Very imaginative name. It uses BLE to connect to a companion app that has different types of bread and a slider to adjust how much you want to burn your bread. Once you’ve picked the perfect combination, you can save your toasting preferences. The app will send a notification to your phone when the toast is finished. The notifications also work with the company’s Connected Mirror so maybe you want to try out the whole ecosystem.
Seems strange to me though. Toast is sacred, and I think it doesn’t need any technological improvements. But if you like the idea of your phone and your toast communicating, you may want to give this thing a try. Oh yeah, they’re working on a coffee maker too.
