A desk to kill for

Good Design is thorough, down to the last detail” – Dieter Rams.

The Functional Integrated desk is the dream workplace for the product designer. Not just because it looks amazing, but because it takes into account every detailed task an industrial designer may need to perform in their workplace, from sketching to modeling, from prototyping to documenting. The beauty of this workplace truly lies in its holistic approach.

Tickle-me Socks And Wakeup Call

The ACUWAKE is a pair of socks that buzzes you awake in a gentle fashion. Essentially the socks come fitted with micro vibrators, which massage your feet at the acupressure points resulting into a healthy heart, strong spine and an efficient intestine. There is an Acuwake mobile app that can activate the socks from a million miles away. I’d totally use it to play pranks rather than as a wakeup call!

Cycle + Air Pump

Inflator Bicycle is a cycle design where the frame of the bike acts as an inflator for cycle tire. This “always with you” bicycle pump is designed by putting inside the frame a connecting bar and a piston. You can pump in air to the tire by simply moving the bicycle seat up and down. The pipe and the gas nozzle hooks onto the cycle frame and it inflates both, the back wheel and the front wheel.

Retractable Earphones

Ice or Integrated Case Earphone is a retractable set of earphones that are built into the phone case. You simple tug at the earphones to extend the cord and then give them a slight pull, to retract. Essentially the design takes care of your wires and tangles mess; eliminating the need to wind them up or storing them separately. Love the idea, now only if someone will make it!

Custom PC desk / case combo ditches glass, metal for wood

Desk case PC mods have lit up our radar before, but a modder by the name of Pirate -- who's no stranger to us -- has dropped the typical glass and metal enclosure for medium-density fiberboard. Though the material choice was an effort to avoid buying a new desk, it created a need for a robust cooling system. Five fans (three exhaust, two intake), a radiator and a liquid-cooling system keep the rig at roughly 88 F (31 C) with ambient temperatures hovering around 79 F (26 C). As for horsepower, the workstation features a Core-i5-2000k processor and a Radeon HD 7950 graphics card sporting a water cooling block on an Asus Gene IV microATX motherboard. Visuals are piped to three displays in an Eyefinity configuration that are held by a modded ergonomic stand. Pictures of the build process in excruciating detail await you at the source.
