World’s First Bacon-Powered Diesel Motorcycle Preparing For Cross Country Trip

Hormel Black Label Bacon Motorcycle

Bacon Week 2014 – International Bacon Film Festival 2014 is just a couple of weeks away and everyone will be looking forward to the “Driven by Bacon” documentary. This documentary is about a diesel motorcycle that runs on bacon grease fuel. Austin-based Hormel came up with the idea of powering a motorcycle dubbed Hormel Black Label Bacon Motorcycle that runs on B-100 bio-diesel which is converted from bacon waste into bio-diesel by bio-Blend Fuels in Winsconsin. The bike fuel costs just $3.50 a gallon and makes the motorcycle run 75-100 miles per gallon. Now, that is quite impressive since the demand for bio-fuel is paramount.

According to Nick Schweitzer, Hormel brand manager, the bacon bio-fuel does leave behind the smell of bacon when one drives it on the roads which all goes well for bacon lovers. Hormel is also looking for a bacon lover who’ll ride the bike on a cross country trip from Austin, MN to San Diego, CA. After that the motorcycle will come back to Austin and is expected to be kept in SPAM Museum for display.

As for the documentary the crew on this advertising campaign are hoping to meet interesting and passionate people during their trip which will add to the experience of this whole journey. Once the documentary is edited, it is going to premeire at the International Bacon Film Festival which is expected to be one unique experience.

Eat Some Pork then Run a Marathon with Reebok Bacon

This clever marketing campaign can be summed up in one sentence. When all else fails, try bacon. More people are getting fit these days, running and exercising. However, these people still love bacon. Reebok wants to give it to them.

Reebok Bacon was launched at last month’s Reebok CrossFit Games in California. The idea is that this meat contains all the protein of you need, but without sweeteners, monosodium glutamate, or nitrates. This product is designed to be a better bacon.

The idea comes from ad agency Venables Bell & Partners. I doubt Reebok will launch the product for real, but it does bring attention to their brand. And besides, bacon.

A Peanut Butter Bacon Burger On A Rice Krispies Treat Bun

A Peanut Butter Bacon Burger On A Rice Krispies Treat Bun
Meet this Rice Krispies Treat-bunned peanut butter bacon burger. It was made my Nash Ruin aka the Vulgar Chef. I don’t know what’s vulgar about this masterpiece, but upon first glance I actually thought the burg was sandwiched between two rice cakes and almost flew into a blind rage. Now THAT would have been vulgar. […]

Wake Up to the Smell of Deliciousness: Oscar Mayer’s Bacon Alarm Clock

Oscar Meyer Bacon Alarm Clock0

Whoever invented alarm clocks got it all wrong. If you want to get people out of bed, then you might want to give them a better reason to do so. A wailing alarm clock (with an occasionally defective snooze button that makes the entire process a hundred times more annoying) is clearly not what most people have in mind.

Alarm clock makers should take a cue from Oscar Mayer. They’ve come up with the Wake Up and Smell the Bacon app and iPhone dongle duo that basically wakes people up with the delicious scent of bacon.

The Bacon dongle plugs into the iPhone’s headphone jack and works with the app to release the aroma of freshly-cooked bacon when the alarm rings. Aside from that, it also makes the sound that bacon makes when it’s cooking and blurts out random baconisms talking about the wonder that is bacon.

Oscar Mayer will only be making a limited number of dongles and unfortunately, they don’t plan on selling any of them. Instead, you can try your luck and try to win one by taking the quiz on their website.

The contest runs until April 4th.

Bacon Alarm Clock Is the Best Thing Oscar Mayer Has Ever Done (Besides that Song)

My alarm clock has a first name, it’s O-S-C-A-R… my alarm clock has a second name, it’s M-A-Y-E-R. You will surely recognize the name Oscar Mayer as the company that makes more lunch and breakfast meats than you can shake a stick at. The company also makes bacon, which is the best food in the history of food.

Oscar Mayer has a new hardware and app combo for the iPhone that will wake you to the sounds and smell of frying bacon.

It’s not going to make you bacon like the Bacon Alarm Clock we talked about before. Instead, the Oscar Mayer app uses a cartridge that attaches to the bottom of the iPhone and produces the scent of bacon to wake you up. I’m not sure how I feel about that tease. The other issue is that you can’t just buy this thing. A limited number of them are being given away to people who take a quiz on the Oscan Mayer website. Those who win the dongle and app combo will get an extra vial of bacon scent. I guess once you run out of scent, you can’t get refills short of squeezing your own bacon juice.

We really love bacon around my house. I have spread that love for bacon to my kids too. My daughter even used crispy crunchy bacon to illustrate her food chain quiz recently in school. She is a genius.

Wake Up To the Smell of Free Bacon Everyday

iPhone with Bacon AlarmThis could, quite possibly, be the greatest way to wake up, EVER! Oscar Mayer has created a device that attaches to your iPhone and when paired with the app, you will wake to the smell of frying bacon. Considering that we put bacon on and in everything anymore; doughnuts, sandwiches, bacon wrapped dates……Oscar Mayer apparently caught onto how much everyone loves the fried strips of heaven. The #bacon hashtag gets over 2 million mentions every year on Twitter.

You want one, admit it. The only way to get one is to go to their website and apply for one. They are not for sale, and the winners will be chosen at random. You can only apply from March 3 to April 4, 2014, so get on it. They have uploaded an artistic video to help promote the device, from roses made of bacon to a menu at a restaurant that has nothing but bacon on the menu, the video is there to tickle your senses. You can bet we will be applying for one of these incredible little mouth watering devices.
