Wild, wondrous, wooden wallets!

I’ve seen flexible wallets made from leather, canvas, denim, plastic, tyvek, and even the odd paper wallet. Today we add wood to that list of materials. Wood isn’t known to be as flexible as leather or regular fabrics, but John Webber’s fascination for the material didn’t stop him from making a bi-fold made out of wood. In order to make it flexible, he fragmented it by laser cutting it into tiny individual pieces that were then fused to a flexible tyvek base. The result is a wallet that is made out of wood, but bends just like any fabric you’ve seen.

Available in a choice of Ebony (Pine), Walnut, Cherry, and Maple, the Arbor Wallets look absolutely unique, giving the impression of being a fabric wallet with a wood-grain print, but actually being made of real wood. To make sure the wood lasts long, it’s hand-coated with a specially formulated oil that gives it water-resistant properties, making sure that accidental spills don’t damage the thin layer of wood while even bestowing upon it a fragrance with distinct wooden notes, making your wallet both look and smell great out of the box!

Darth Vader and Yoda Phone Stands: For the Bedside of the Force

Looking for something truly different to add to your Star Wars collection? I’m reasonably certain you don’t have one of these carved wooden sculptures in your house yet. Each of these sculptures is handmade and a great way to stand up your smartphone when it’s charging.

They come from Etsy shop Wood Art Ukraine, who makes a variety of carved wood objects, including these busts and figurines of Darth Vader and Yoda. Naturally, the Sith Lord has received a darker coat of stain than the old Jedi master.

I suggest putting Vader on the dark side of your room, and Yoda on the light side. Based on current exchange rates, they’re just $32 to $35 each over on Etsy.

Chainsaw Artist Sculpts an Actual Wood Groot

You know, I never realy gave much thought to chainsaw art until I saw Griffon Ramsey doing her thing in the video below. It’s fascinating. Watch as Ramsey works her magic and creates a sculpture of Groot using several chainsaws and some Eastern Red Cedar wood.

Ramsey has some amazing chainsaw skills. You can watch Groot come together before your eyes, since she filmed the work in progress. The finished Groot really looks great – like he could come to life at any moment.

I might have to try my hand at chainsaw art just to make a Groot that I can display for myself. Of course, I would probably just lose my hand, so maybe not.

Chainsaw Carved Dinosaur: Prehistoric Pine

You don’t need the folks from Jurassic Park to bring dinosaurs back to life. You just need Scott Dow of the Animalistic Chainsaw Carving Studio in Corry, Pennsylvania. He brought this one to life. And not with a petri dish and a beaker either. With a good old-fashioned chainsaw.

Look how awesome it is and it’s not even finished yet. Scott has some mad skills with that chainsaw. Now it just needs armor. And laser guns! And a bionic cyber-eye. And laser pistols holstered at it’s side. At least that’s how I would finish it.

What do you think Scott? Make my idea of a dino-warrior a reality? I’ll pick it up next week.

Alien Electric Guitar: In Space No One Can Hear You Rock

This is one awesome Alien themed guitar. If Ripley ever put together a band, this is what the guitarist would play. It was created by Gig Goldstein and this carved guitar matches H.R. Giger’s original design very nicely.

It’s no wonder his name is Gig since he makes a full time gig out of carving. He has been doing it for about twelve years and as you can see, he does amazing work.

As for this guitar, just look at that amazing detail. I can’t carve a turkey, let alone an awesome Alien guitar. He should be helping to build scary sets for Prometheus. I’d love to see that.

You can check out Goldstein’s other guitars at his YouTube channel.
