LEGO to Showcase New Batmobile at SD Comic-Con

New Lego Batmobile

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice won’t be out until March 23, 2016, but playing with the new LEGO Batmobile could make time run faster, for some.

Batman standing right next to his newly redesigned Batmobile was one of the first images with Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader. In that context, it makes perfect sense for LEGO to promote the new Batmobile in a similar way.

The new Batmobile “includes 306 pieces, two stud shooters and opening doors, a new Batman outfit deco, two additional unnamed characters and an additional vehicle,” reports The Wall Street Journal.

You’re free to think of the new Batmobile as the LEGO equivalent of a movie’s trailer. You’ll get to see it at Comic-Con, in San Diego, but you won’t get to fully enjoy it until January 1, 2016, when Batman’s badass vehicle will hit the shelves, bearing a price tag of $29.99.

It’ll be interesting to see who the two unnamed characters are, but I’d go out on a limb and say that one’s Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel, and the other one is Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor. There are several other options, considering that these two are not the only superheroes to star in Dawn of Justice, and Luthor definitely won’t be the only villain.

If you ask me, I think that the new Batmobile is only the beginning. LEGO wouldn’t (and shouldn’t) miss such an opportunity to refresh its product line, so there are great chances that we’ll also get to see something from Superman’s environment, and maybe even something related to the villains. Or was Superman the villain? We’ll just have to wait until July 9, when the Danish company will unveil Dark Knight’s new ride at San Diego Comic-Con International.

I’m going to be frank with you and say that The Dark Knight Rises was a joke of a movie, not only because of the story and Bane’s ridiculous voice, but also because of how the scenes were edited, and how Inception-esque the soundtrack sounded. That being said, I have high hopes for Zack Snyder’s new movie. Snyder has already directed several adaptations of comics for the big screen, and even though he wasn’t involved in writing the script (as was the case with the Nolan brothers), some people seem to trust the faith of the Justice League and Suicide Squad into his hands.

Batfleck’s Cape and Cowl Shown at Comic-Con

A while back we got our first look at Batman’s costume in a set photo, but now we are getting a closer look at Ben Affleck’s cape and cowl from the upcoming Superman vs. Batman: Dawn of Justice movie.

This is the cape and cowl that Ben Affleck will be wearing in the new movie. If you are going to San Diego this week you can see it for yourself, since it is on display at Comic-Con. I have to say, it looks really damn good. These particular ears, along with those lines above the eyes, give the cowl a very menacing look.

TMNT Pizza Thrower Truck Made Real: Launches Pizzas 30 Feet

Unless you have been hiding in the sewer, having an endless pizza party, you know that a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is coming out on August 8th. To celebrate, Pizza Hut has commissioned a project that will debut at Comic-Con this week - one that combines your love of Turtles and pizza. A truck-sized version of the Pizza Thrower.

This pizza shooter can shoot pies up to 30 feet away. If you are attending San Diego Comic-Con this week, you can see it up close and personal. It was made by Synn Labs. Aside from shooting pizzas every which way, the vehicle can reach speeds up to 75MPH and weighs two tons.

A pneumatic ram propels the pizza using compressed air. I don’t care how far it shoots a pizza really, just as long as I can catch it.

The Dark Knight UCS Tumbler LEGO Kit Debuts at Comic-Con

I have seen all the Batman movies that have hit theaters over the years. Most of them were cheesy, but Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight series was fantastic. Batman had the coolest Batmobile ever with the Tumbler.

If you are a fan of the Tumbler, check out this official Ultimate Collector Series LEGO version that has been unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con. The massive kit (76023) will build a very detailed replica of the Tumbler, measuring in at 15-inches long and 9-inches wide, with a whopping 1869 pieces.

Harley Quinn Wallet: Joker, Will You Hold My Purse?

As beautiful as this Harley Quinn wallet is, I don’t think I would ever trust her with my sensitive info. I mean, if you store your credit cards in this thing, she’s gonna be buying “Mister J” all kinds of stuff on Amazon on your dime. You just can’t trust Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel, M.D.

This wallet from Graphitti Designs perfectly captures the attitude and style of Harley Quinn. It measures 6” x 4” x .5” with a 46” strap. If you want one, it will only be available via sale at SDCC.

All of you Jokers who need a gift for your special lady better get one while you can.

Star Trek Phaser Remote Control Zaps TV Programs Back to the Delta Quadrant

ThinkGeek has just revealed one of its big toys for this year’s SDCC, and it’s a doozy. I always have thought of my TV remote as a zapper of sorts, so it only makes sense that you’d use a phaser to change channels. So I give you, the official Star Trek Phaser Universal Remote Control.

Designed using 3D laser scans of one of the rare original prop phasers from The Original Series, this impressive 1:1 replica is made from nickel and brass-plated die cast metal, and comes with a magnetic metal stand. You can even detach the Phaser I component from the Phaser II section.

The remote not only can be used for fun, flashing in colors, emitting phaser and Enterprise sound effects, and providing vibration feedback, but it also works as a remote control for pretty much any infrared-compatible electronics. When used as a remote, you use flick and tilt gestures to change channels, skip audio tracks or adjust volume. In total, the remote can store up to 36 commands. It’s even got a built-in TV-B-Gone sort of circuit which lets you zap off just about any TV you point it at. I’ve also been told it stuns Klingons, but don’t tell anyone you heard it from me.

The Phaser Remote comes packed in a durable hard case, with custom moulded foam inserts, and a Starship Enterprise screwdriver for attaching or removing its pistol grip.

ThinkGeek will be showing off the remote at San Diego Comic Con in booth #3849. They expect to start shipping in November for $150(USD).

With the Retro Alien Playset, the Game is Never Over

Growing up in the ’80s it seemed like every year there were hoards of playsets that would launch based on some of the cool movies of the day. I have many fond memories of my Star Wars Ewok tree house playset. I also have some scary memories of watching the original Alien movie. Since that flick wasn’t aimed at kids, there were no playsets to go along with it.

Funko and Super 7 have teamed up to launch a sweet retro Alien playset that looks straight out of 1979.

alien playset 620x809magnify

The figures with the Alien Egg Chamber playset are not the realistic fare we are used to seeing at Comic-con, but are a softer more kid-like sort – like the old Kenner action figures. The big catch here is that there are only 250 of these available and they will sell for $100 each. If you are going to San Diego Comic-con and like Alien, you better get there early and head straight to the Super 7 booth (#5245) and be prepared to whip out your cash.
