Jeff Bezos Tests out Gigantic Robot Suit

It must get boring being a billionaire. What do you do when making money is not a challenge anymore? Well, you could become a super villain. Looks like that is the route that Jeff Bezos of Amazon fame has taken.

At Amazon’s annual MARS (Machine learning, home Automation, Robotics and Space) conference, Bezos tried out a 13-foot tall robot designed by Korean company Hankook Mirae Technology. Notice the evil smile on his face. So Bezos practiced another world domination tool and I’m just wondering what hero is going to take this guy down when his evil plans come to fruition.

The Method-2 robot has been the source of controversy since some think that it’s a fake. Sadly there was no evidence here that it could walk, but the arms seemed to move pretty well, so there is that. Whatever. Have fun destroying some corner of the world, Jeff. Just keep those Amazon packages on time at my house.

Deer Supplement Their Vegetarian Diets with Birds!?

If you read our site much, you know we post stories about weird science stuff on occasion. Most of that stuff is cool and doesn’t creep me out at all, unless we are talking about robots that look like Hector from Saturn 3. This story I find more than a bit creepy.

As it turns out, Bambi and her kind aren’t strictly the herbivores we thought they were. A number of years back, scientists studying certain types of birds in North Dakota found that deer often supplement their diets with birds. The thought of a deer gnashing on a live bird really disturbs me for some reason.

The scientists recorded videos of deer walking up to a “Mist-net”, which is a net used to capture birds and bats alive for study and tagging, and eating the birds alive. They ate the birds right off the net! The team also recorded deer eating nesting birds right out of nests they could reach near the ground. I’ll never look at deer the same way again.
