The Salon Faucet Just Got a Makeover

salonq_faucet_holder_layout

Easy for hairstylists and therapeutic for customers, Salon Q is an all-new faucet solution that rethinks the hair-rinsing process. It features a ring-finger attachment that places the nozzle comfortably between the fingers of the hairstylist. Instead of alternating between hand and nozzle, stylists can rinse and massage the scalp simultaneously. Better yet, they can adjust temperature directly from the top of the spout. Other signature details include ultra-thin water holes to achieve a reduced size and an integrated magnet that allow it to be attached to the basin for easy access.

The Salon Q is a winner of the Red Dot Design Concept Award for the year 2018.

The Vettis faucet transforms concrete into a premium material

vettis_concrete_faucet_1

Concrete’s got more of a rustic, DIY reputation than that of a luxury material. You’d normally associate luxury with chrome, rose-gold, or other premium materials and finishes, but faucet and sanitaryware company Brizo is changing that. Take for instance its Vettis single-hand faucet. Fabricated in brass and plated with polished chrome, the original Vettis is an absolute stunner, with a solid looking, robust cuboidal form factor. Take that premium form and alter the material to concrete and you’ve got something that’s equally beautiful, but much more avant-garde.

Crafted by sculptor Christopher Shannon, the Vettis Concrete Edition is a truly remarkable looking faucet and it definitely makes a strong case for concrete as a premium material (backed by a premium looking form language, no doubt). Each nozzle is hand-poured in Shannon’s studio and is cured for 30 days. Tinted with pure charcoal, every spigot has its own unique texture and color resulting in pieces that are bespoke, hand-crafted works of art that promise to provide a unique touch to your bathroom (quite literally!), while providing Brizo’s signature water-flow quality! If the Vettis Concrete excites you, make sure you get your hands on one soon. The concrete variant is limited to just 500 pieces! (Click on any of the images to know more)

Purity in a Faucet

essence_01

From the designer who made even a walker look kinda sexy, the Essence faucet has a robust yet refined aesthetic that puts chrome spouts to shame. The minimalistic design features a gentle curve of the neck, emerging from the floor or wall without any base or superfluous elements. The touch-sensitive switch makes it possible to increase or decrease flow with a simple tap while the outer rings handles temperature which is indicated by a hidden LED light.

Kitchens Just Got Way Cooler

if_01

Dominating the water fixture selection of the 2017 iF Design Talent Award winners, these two faucets are strikingly different yet both provide kitchen enhancements as functional as they are beautiful.

The first, called Water Curtain by Jiaqing Zhang, Chen Gao, Xin Ai & Liye Zhang is aptly named for its elongated spout which provides a waterfall-like flow. This maximizes coverage for washing foods or cleaning dishes. Furthermore, internal sensors detect the size of the object and adjust accordingly to prevent water waste. Better yet, it can be split-streamed so two people can use it at once!

The second is just as versatile but in an entirely different way. It’s called Rail Kitchen by Hyoung wrk Moon & Jeonghyeon Lee, and, just like the name suggests, this modern faucet is integrated into the countertop where it is capable of sliding from one side to the other. This makes it possible to use over the sink or the stove, all without having to lug around heavy pots! Its substation and flow system are located under the surface, leaving the visible parts sleek and clean.

Altered: Nozzle Faucet Saves Water with Mist

Humans really can’t help but waste water. Some of that is due to the fact that we are wasters, but a lot of it comes down to the design of the faucet as well. The Altered: Nozzle is a great alternative to the conventional faucet.

altered_nozzle_faucet_1

This is a special faucet that allows you to save up to 98% of the water you would normally use. It does this by turning your atomizing water into a fine mist. That mist is enough to wash your hands and even rinse off some dishes. It is a simple and smart way to save a large amount of water. If you need more water, just twist the nozzle for a regular stream of water.

Even at the higher flow rate, you’ll still be saving 75% to 85% of the water you’d normally use. That’s pretty impressive. The device will be available in three different EU/US standard sizes: Regular, Junior and TomThumb. It’s said to install in only 30 seconds. You can find it on Kickstarter, and the Altered: Nozzle should be available in December of this year.

This design is all about being simple and clean in design. In fact it’s so simple and clean, it doesn’t even have a name! Titled ‘Faucet’, this washroom fitting boasts of a capacitive touch control system that allows you to not just power the faucet, but also allows you to set a timer for on/off functions, allowing you to control and monitor your water usage. Faucet that takes a dip!

noah_faucet_1

The Noah brings the intuitive action of ‘tipping over’ to the faucet. The faucet has been associated with the twisting action since time immemorial, but something about the Noah makes it intuitive to use, and a pleasure too!

The tap has a temperature regulator on the top that can be twisted 90 degrees to cycle between hot and cold. Then you just tip the horizontal pipe over and the water comes gushing out. Convenient and unconditionally pretty!
