TeePublic member Mdk7 played Vault Boy like a damn fiddle, turning him into a Metal Gear Solid V mascot in this awesome mashup.

Even Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima approved of his new recruit, retweeting Bezzle-ution’s shot of the t-shirt.

Incidentally, as of this writing that’s the only tweet that Bezzle-ution has sent. Perhaps he’s also Mdk7?

Metal Gear Solid V Idol Girl Cosplay Will Mesmerize Your Enemies

CP this is Delta 2! Spotted signs of kawaii, I’m going to check it out! Redditor zetarn shares this shot of a snake in idol’s clothing. It’s Venom Snake hiding in a cardboard box that he decorated with an idol girl poster. In case you haven’t played MGS V: The Phantom Pain, Snake’s staple sneaking tool can now be decorated with different posters, each able to attract certain enemies. Enamored soldiers will drop their weapon and ogle the poster, making it easy to attack or disarm them.

All I want is a cosplay of D Dog in full battle gear. That’ll be the ultimate stress reliever.

Snake with Solid Snake & Liquid Snake: Snake? Snake!

It had to be Snakes. Snake? Snake! is developer Virtually Competent’s entry to the Duplicade game jam. It’s based on the classic mobile game Snake except instead of the titular animal, players control Metal Gear Solids‘ Twin Snakes.

snake_snake_by_virtually_competent_1zoom in

Duplicade’s restrictions are simple: entries have to be 30-second PvPs, and they have to be a knockoff of another game, just “weird enough to not get you sued.” Hence the game jam’s name. And Snake? Snake! is weird all right. Solid and Liquid are literally half-snakes, and instead of eating fruit they grow longer by extracting soldiers with the Fulton system. The game’s sound effects are awkward at best, and at the bottom of the scoreboard are quotes from Metal Gear Solid turned into snake puns. Skip to 0:50 in Jupiter_Hadley‘s video below to see the game in action:

And you thought the Skulls were weird. Snake? Snake! is available for Windows, OS X and Linux. You can download it for free (with an optional donation) from Virtually Competent’s Itch.io page.

Metal Gear Solid V Venom Snake Nendoroid: Ace of Mother Base

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain‘s star Venom Snake gets the cute Nendoroid treatment. Actually this one’s full name is Nendoroid Venom Snake: Sneaking Suit Version, so it’s safe to assume we’ll see other variants in the near future.

Aside from his big head and stubby feet, V comes with the Phantom Cigar, a cardboard box, an iDroid with a map hologram effect, three swappable prosthetic arms – the bionic arm, the stun arm and the blast arm – a pistol, a rifle and a Fulton balloon that fits around any Nendoroid figure.

Sony introduce their Metal Gear Solid themed Xperia

metal_gear_smartphone-01

Sony introduced their next Xperia phone, the Sony Xperia J1 Compact themed after the Metal Gear Solid video game series, which is coming back in September with Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain.

It’s not very common to see smartphones in the market themed after popular video games. They generally get themes after brands such as Ferrari or Porsche, or popular franchises at the time such as Samsung’s Iron Man themed Galaxy series, but gamers can be happy now as Sony have introduced their Sony Xperia J1 Compact, themed after the upcoming video game Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain. Gamers will be able to buy their Sony smartphone sporting an Outer Haven logo on the back, along with wallpapers, ringtones and an artbook to match, all based on the Metal Gear franchise. The J1 Compact will be the only Xperia model to include all of these items, although the Xperia Z4 tablet and Xperia Z3 Compact will feature themed framed and casing. The Sony Xperia J1 Compact The Phantom Pain edition will be available for preorders on September for $480 USD.

The specs will be no different from the regular edition, so this is more of a treat for fans than its own, unique model. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is one of the most awaited video games of the last few years, and with its conflicted yet imminent launch happening in a couple weeks for now, it has made quite a few headlines. For example, creator Hideo Kojima will be leaving Konami after the release of the game after the company canceled his other project Silent Hills (which had Guillermo del Toro’s collaboration, even) amongst many other news.

Metal Gear Solid 2 Raiden Nendoroid: Small Boy Unit

Jack? Jaaaack!!! Good Smile Company’s Nendoroid Raiden is ready to follow in the footsteps of his buddy Solid Snake. This collectible features Raiden as he appears in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, before he went cyber-emo.

Like Snake, Raiden is rare among Nendoroids in that he can go prone. He’s also armed with a pistol, an assault rifle and a cardboard box. But he’s also got his trusty sword, an alternate face drawn by MGS 2 art director Yoji Shinkawa and an alternate naked body, referring to one memorable part of MGS 2.

Unlike his fully clothed body, Raiden’s birthday suit has no points of articulation to keep his snake hidden. Amazon Japan also has an exclusive Zone of the Enders cardboard box for the toy.

Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain Alert Sensor Light: !

Huh? What’s that? HQ there’s a Metal Gear Solid Alert Sensor Light! Taito made this awesome replica of the staple MGS icon that pops up on enemy NPCs when they spot you. It’s about 7″ tall, has a soft light and blares out the classic sound effect when it detects movement within a 40º arc in front of it.

Metal Gear Informer says this item will also be a claw machine prize in Japanese arcades. As you can see in the image below there’s also a “?” version.

Go prone and pre-order the MGS V: PP Alert Sensor from NCSX for about $24 (USD).

Metal Gear Solid V Japanese Premium Package Comes with Life-size Bionic Arm

If you thought the MGS V-themed PS4 was sweet, check out the Premium Package that Konami is offering its customers in Japan. The limited edition game bundle comes with a 1:1 replica of Big Boss’ bionic arm.

Look at it and weep… at your shipping cost.

metal_gear_solid_v_the_phantom_pain_bionic_arm_Japan_premium_package_2zoom in

metal_gear_solid_v_the_phantom_pain_bionic_arm_Japan_premium_package_1zoom in

Aside from the arm the Premium Package has the same bonuses as its global version. That includes a map, a Blu-ray disc containing a behind-the-scenes documentary plus lots of in-game items, including this hilarious Metal Gear REX helmet:

metal_gear_solid_v_the_phantom_pain_bonus_metal_gear_rex_helmet_1zoom in

The main difference between the two bundles is the arm, because the global version gets only a half-scale replica. At least that’s reflected in their prices. You can import the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Japanese Premium Package from Play-Asia for a whopping $400 (USD), but if you live in Japan you can get it for about $250 straight from Konami. The global Collector’s Edition is also available from Konami for $100/€100. With such high prices you’d think Konami would throw in a copy of MGS V: Ground Zeroes in the bundles, but no luck.

Metal Gear Solid V Maroon PS4 is Quite Fetching

I’m not the type to really care what color my game consoles are. I mean, if there were a choice other than black for a PS4, say a nice blue or red, I’d opt for something else. That is all assuming that the console doesn’t cost more just because it’s a different color. I might actually pay a bit extra for this Metal Gear Solid V PS4, I think it’s the best-looking console Sony has made yet.

mgs_v_ps4_1zoom in

This is a special edition console bundle called the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain PS4. It’s colored to match the color scheme of Snake’s bionic arm in the game. It’s mostly black and maroon with some blue and gold trim.

mgs_v_ps4_2zoom in

Both the console and the included controller have Diamond Dogs logos. I can see fans of the Metal Gear Solid franchise dropping extra coin on this console. I’m not sure how much it will cost and it’s likely to be offered in Japan only.
