These Smart Knobs Can Turn Your Stove off from Anywhere

So you left the house and get on the road for a killer road trip, then 20 minutes into your drive, you wonder if you left the stove on. Normally this would involve heading back home only to find out that you didn’t leave it on in the first place. Well, not anymore. Just keep driving away from your home, and load up the Inirv React app on your phone.

These “smart knobs” are powered dials that sit on your gas stove, letting you turn them off remotely with your smartphone. The knobs can either completely replace your existing ones or sit beneath them like shown in the photo above. A nearby sensor can also sense heat, gas or that you’ve left the house.

Each knob is mechanically powered and can physically turn itself to the off position, so these are perfect for any existing gas stove. Their batteries are good for six months of life before you’ll need to recharge them; same with the sensor that’s mounted near your stove. It has a motion detector inside which will sense if you’re actually around. It will also detect gas, smoke and has a heat sensor that can shut the range off if you’ve left the house with the stove on. Worrying about your stove will be a thing of the past with this device on guard.

The company is crowdfunding the device on Kickstarter and if you want, you can get a set of four knobs and a sensor for $239(USD). When the campaign ends, it will be $299(USD). It seems like a solid investment in safety.

Smart stove knobs help you prevent a house fire

You can already buy connected ranges that offer remote control and prevent kitchen disasters. But what about your existing range -- are you really going to replace it just for some extra convenience and peace of mind? You might not have to. Inirv is...

Keep an eye on the stove!

mirrorhob_1

You know… Problem solving’s actually the easy bit. Problem finding is incredibly tough. Honestly that’s what design is really about. Finding the right problem to solve. The 55° MirrorHob seems like a regular stove, but one small design detail uplifts its user experience. I’m talking about that v-shaped reflective element between the two stovetops.

When you place a utensil on top of any stove, it automatically blocks your view of the flame, and to check the intensity of the flame, or to see whether it’s on or not, you need to bend down to look below the utensil. A problem so ridiculously silly we just overlooked it as a minor inconvenience. The MirrorHob just places a reflective piece in a strategic position that allows us to see if the flame is on or not, at eye level. Simple, isn’t it?!

Add some fire-power to your pack!

zen_00

Fire has always been a must-have for campers but today the same is true for electricity! How else are you gonna snap those wilderness selfies or have an awesome soundtrack to your adventure? The Zen Stove aims to provide campers with both of these necessities.

The design utilizes regular butane gas but also includes a built-in electricity generating system that charges when you burn it. A socket between a heat module and cooling module generates electricity using the difference in temperature. The colder it is outside, the more electricity will be generated. This way, you can power or recharge all your portable devices to enhance your camping experience!

Kitchen on the go!

sharepool_01

In the modern world, we share everything from car rides to apartments, so why not share your kitchen too?! Designed around this idea, Sharepool is a concept that explores what we might expect from the kitchen of future.

The system allows users to rent a single all-in-one kitchen unit instead of purchasing individual appliances. To make this possible, Sharepool has been scaled down to one compact system that includes a cooktop, microwave and fridge enclosed in a protective structure on wheels. It’s incredibly mobile, not only between each user’s dwelling, but within the dwelling itself. Particularly useful in microliving spaces, it can be placed in almost any room whether it’s the office or dining area to save valuable space!

Next Level Cooking

lic_01

Ever run out of room on your stovetop while cooking? If so, that’s probably due to the narrow spacing on a conventional induction stove. The Level Induction Cooktop solves this problem by re-arranging the heat spots in an adapted multi-level approach. A re-design of the induction stove, it improves efficiency and maintains the authentic function without using an overcomplicated design solution. It can even facilitate customised cooking of several dishes at the same time because each heat spot has its own button for setting the cooking time and heat intensity. Cook in multiple pans of any size simultaneously to save time!

Boba Fett Wood Burning Stove: Fett’s Afire

UK metal designer Burned by Design created this super cool Boba Fett wood burning stove. Maybe I should say super hot. This stove looks amazing, like a statue to our favorite bounty hunter that was erected in his honor.

Believe it or not, this creation was power-welded, cleaned, and painted all in one day. This stove is a beautiful work of art and a fitting tribute to our favorite bounty hunter. I always knew that Boba Fett had a fire inside.

Unlike Boba Fett himself, who is more likely to put you in carbonite and take you to Jabba The Hutt, this stove will keep you warm on a chilly evening.

Clasp and Cook

In light of everything being portable, it’s only fair that cooking stoves go that way too. The Clasp Range is a portable stove that is lightweight, easy to charge and totally ready for the go. Think camping, picnics and BBQ Parties and more, designed to fit both indoors and outdoors, I love the handgrip and collapsible elements to the design.

Induction Meets Conventional Stove

StovE is a next generation cooking device for small families. It combines the energy-efficiency of induction cooking with the power of conventional gas cooking. It features 2 cooking surfaces for each, 1 induction on top and 1 gas burner on the right, while a 3rd induction below the top keeps food warm before being served. Despite its large variety of uses and functionalities, its form, inspired by a leaf, uses less space in the kitchen thanks to its elongated, vertical shape.
