LEGO Treadmill Challenge: Fun Under Foot

Any parent of a LEGO fanatic will tell you there’s nothing worse than stepping barefoot on a pile, or even a single LEGO brick. The pain is excruciating. I’m pretty sure that Hell is nothing but a LEGO covered floor you have to walk on for all eternity. So the LEGO treadmill challenge? Yeah, that’s crazy talk.

Walking on LEGO is bad enough, but these guys from Where’s My Challenge are running on them. It’s nothing but self-torture. Therefore, obviously NSFW. There’s a lot of F-bombs and maybe some blood along the way.

Hats off to these brave men for undergoing this, the world’s worst form of torture. They are all champions. Hopefully they will all be able to walk again after this.

Breakaway Sheet Glass

You’ve seen it done in movies and on television shows. Now you can do the same in your very own home.

We’re talking about jumping through a glass wall and emerging relatively unscathed, much to shock and awe of whoever is in the room when you decide to do your little stunt. The breakaway sheet glass looks and breaks just like real glass. It’s not exactly cheap, so you might want to save breaking it for a truly special occasion.

It’s available from Thomax Fx for $53.

Our Childhood Come To Life: Stunt Drivers Push Real Cars Through Giant Loopty-Loop

By David Ponce

So, last weekend, something awesome happened: two stunt drivers successfully launched a pair of cars through a 60 foot tall full loop during the X Games in LA. The track was called the Team Hot Wheels Double Loop Dare. Green driver Greg Tracy and yellow driver Tanner Faust pushed their cars to 52 mph and were subjected to 7 Gs while performing the stunt. It did go well, however, and was even capped with a small jump at the end. You can watch all the action in the video below.

This was all marketing however (when is it not?): Hot Wheels was promoting their new track, the… Team Hot Wheels Double Loop Dare Snare Stunt Set. A $22 toy.

BC Man Breaks Speed Record On Skateboard, Tops 80mph, POV Films The Entire Thing

By David Ponce

While we think this happened over two years ago, Engadget has a video of BC native Mischo Erban breaking a record with panache. This dude knows how to go fast on a skateboard. We imagine it’s not that hard though: find a big long hill, make sure there aren’t any potholes, grow a gigantic pair of balls and get going. That’s what Mischo did, although he was wearing some cool gear that made his record breaking run not just impressive but also interesting from a tech standpoint. He was wearing a customized version of the Recon heads-up display, which also sported a camera to immortalize the event on video. The HUD also kept Mischo informed of his speed as he was doing the run, so he knew the moment he topped 129.94 km/h (80.74 mph) that the record was his. That’s mighty fast while standing up on a wooden plank with wheels. If you care to know what it looks like from Mischo’s point of view, hit the jump.

Audi e-bike Wörthersee lets you pop wheelies eco-style, plays nice with your smartphone

Image

We're no stranger to e-bikes here, but most of the examples we've seen so far have very much been meant for A-to-B rides. Audi's aiming to fix that with its e-bike Wörthersee prototype. The carbon fiber transport not only has a strong 2.3kW motor -- the most powerful ever in a bike, so says Audi -- but can use that power for tricks. You can flick the Wörthersee into a wheelie mode and either shift your weight around or leave it fully automatic, depending on the fierceness of your stunt skills. Not that it'll be a timid ride if you prefer to keep both wheels on the ground, as a motor-assisted pedaling mode will take you up to 50MPH, and you can still ride at 31MPH if you're not keen on using your legs. That's faster than the already speedy Grace One City we tried, folks. The vorsprung durch technik also comes through a smartphone tie-in, although in a much more stunt-savvy way than the app- and tuning-focused Ford E-Bike Concept: it tracks video and trick runs, both for its own game system and for bragging rights on Facebook.

With a very light 3.5-pound carbon fiber frame and a quick 2.5-hour charge-up time, the e-bike Wörthersee sounds like a wild ride that will charge quickly enough for a spin on your lunch break, but we wouldn't rush to put down a deposit. Audi is calling the prototype a "show bike," which is a sign than the design as-is won't show up at the local sports store. We'll let you know if the Wörthersee or a more pragmatic descendant makes the leap to a dealer.

Jetman soars over Rio, flies circles around historical landmarks (video)

Jetman soars over Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, flies circles around historical landmarks

Why would you want to leap out of a perfectly good aircraft? To fly a winged jetpack over the city of Rio de Janeiro, of course. It sounds nuts, but it's just a day in the life for Yves Rossy, the self proclaimed "Jetman" who flew over the Grand Canyon last year. Since soaring over the Rio Grande, Rossy has pitted his carbon-fiber wings against a rally car on Top Gear, taken to the skies over Abu Dhabi and, most recently, buzzed Brazil's famous Christ the Redeemer statue. Jetman rocketed past the monument on an 11 minute flight earlier this week, beginning his journey by dropping out of a helicopter over Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. Rossy pulled his Rocketeer trick and eventually parachuted to safety on Copacabana beach. Sound fun? Head past the break to see the man in action. Us? We'll keep our feet planted on terra firma, thanks.

Motorized Stunt Kite

motorized stunt kite 650x430 Motorized Stunt Kite
The kite has gone wireless (or “no strings attached” if you will)! I’m not exactly sure where the line between a kite and remote controlled aircraft falls but the Motorized Stunt Kite Motorized Stunt Kite is somewhere in the middle. This stunt kite has a remote controlled gimbal-mounted engine and propeller that lets you do some crazy aerial moves from up to 500 feet away via wireless controller.

The ripstop nylon delta shaped wings give the kite lift while a fiberglass frame and wing struts provide strength. The kite runs a rechargeable lithium battery and measures 27″ long by 5 feet wide. Clickthrough for the video (sorry can’t embed), this thing soars like a bird up there.
