Star Ducks: The Next Generation

Do you know what would have Star Trek: The Next Generation even better? If the entire crew was made up of ducks. Well, thanks to the guys at Numskull, that can now be a reality. That is, assuming, that your reality is played out with action figures on a cardboard cutout of the bridge of the Enterprise.

The series of TUBBZ collectible figures includes duck versions of Jean Luc Picard, Deanna Troi, Geordi La Forge, and Worf. They look so much better as ducks than as humans if you ask me. I’m only disappointed that they didn’t give them new duck names. I guess I have to do all the work. Let’s go with Jean-Luc Canard, Deanna Decoy, Geordi a l’Orange, and Worf, because I couldn’t find my Klingon-to-Duck dictionary.

You can pre-order all four figures from Just Geek for $12.99 each, or two for $20. While you’re there, you can grab some Original Series duck figures.

Eaglemoss Gold Enterprise-D Is for the Shiny Generation

Perhaps it’s because The Next Generation is my favorite Star Trek series, but I have a particular affinity towards the NCC-1701-D version of the U.S.S. Enterprise that was featured on that show. If you’re a fan of TNG like me, and also like shiny things, then check out this golden model of the starship from Eaglemoss.

This special-edition collectible is erroneously listed as the “NCC-1707-D” on the Eaglemoss Hero Collector website, but it’s most definitely based on the Enterprise, and not some obscure Constitution-class ship seen briefly in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

The die-cast metal collectible is about 5″ long, and would look great sitting on your shelf alongside your other Trek memorabilia. It’s available for $64.95 over at Eaglemoss, where you can also find a golden replica of the original Enterprise, and an XL version of the Enterprise D that’s plated with 18K gold.

Star Trek TNG Bluetooth ComBadge: Beam Me Up, Siri.

We continue to get cool new toys to celebrate Star Trek’s 50th birthday. This Star Trek TNG ComBadge is what we have needed for years so we can communicate with our shipmates.

It has a built-in microphone for hands-free calling. It hooks up to your phone or other device via Bluetooth. Once connected, one touch answers/ends calls, plays/pauses audio, or accesses Siri or Google Now. And, of course, when you touch it, it plays that classic communicator sound effect.

It is perfect for cosplay too of course, making your costume much more authentic. It’s about time we had our own communicators. It’s coming to ThinkGeek this November, but you can preorder one now for $79.99(USD).

Star Trek Isolinear Chip Coasters Protect Your Starship from Spills

Remember those isolinear chips that Starfleet used in TNG? They were basically their form of memory cards to slot into their computers. Well, now you can use them to rest your drinks on so they don’t damage your surfaces, like tables, counters, navigation consoles, etc.

These Star Trek isolinear chip coasters come in a 2-Pack for just $14.99(USD). I have no idea what data is stored on them. Could be Geordi’s diary, Picard’s meal plan for the replicator, or Riker’s little black book, in which case these things are probably full.

These coasters are going to look great in your Enterprise bridge replica livingroom. Just don’t try to stick them into your computer, because they won’t work – at least not until the 24th century when we have the technology to read them.

Star Trek: The Next Generation Cast Selfie Photobombed by Kirk

I am a big fan of Star Trek, and while I have never been a fan of the original show, I was very fond of all the movies with the original cast from the ’80s. I was however a huge fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I am very much a Picardian rather than a Kirkian.

At the recent Wizard World Chicago Comic Con much of the cast of TNG was on hand and naturally, selfie taking ensued. In this photo snapped by LeVar Burton, we get Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frankes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, Michael Dorn. At least Dorn’s cheek is in the image since he was mostly cut out. In the center of the selfie, you will also notice William Shatner crashing the image, though he’s looking a bit grumpy.

There is also a hapless dude that appears to just be hanging out behind the actors. All I know is that Dr. Crusher still looks good after all those years and Picard looks the same, must be all that Earl Gray tea.

Wesley Crusher Dice Bag: Not Standard Starfleet Issue

This Wesley Crusher dice bag represents what I would have liked to see happen to him on the show. Meaning that some alien should have carved him up and stuffed him into his own non-regulation shirt. I know, I’m sorry. Nothing against Wil Wheaton. He was just such a stupid character.

On the plus side, a Wesley Crusher dice bag must be pretty sweet. If it works anything like Wesley did on the show, any dice in this bag should magically get you out of trouble at the very last minute. Then again, you’ll probably have to hear a bunch of whining about schoolwork and how everybody checks your mom out because she is so smoking hot.

Shut up bag. Just get me out of sticky situations then go back to some science experiment.

It’s yours for just $25(USD) from KnerdyLittleKnits.

Star Trek: the Next Generation Valentine’s Day Cookies: For Your Number One

This year, give her the gift of sugar in the shape of Star Trek things. Her heart will melt. Just ask her if she wants to go on a Data and tell her that Resistance is Futile. My holodeck or yours? Actually, just give her these cookies. Forget the cheesy lines.

These amazingly geeky Star Trek: The Next Generation cookies come from Mike of Semi Sweet Designs. He’s like the suave bearded Riker of baked goods. I love how the uniforms are shaped like hearts. The detail is really great. They even have luster dust on the insignia pieces and disco dust for the transporter beam.

Mike was even kind enough to share details on how to make your own Star Trek cookies. Make it so, number one. Be my Valentine.

Enterprise-D restoration fundraiser goes live: your chance to revive a slice of Star Trek is here

Star Trek Enterprise D bridge

For sci-fi lovers, it's on. A fan-devised project to restore the Enterprise-D bridge from Star Trek: The Experience is now actively raising cash on Indiegogo with a newly estimated $240,000 target needed to make the dream real. Crowdfunding brings the obligatory perks for larger donations, although they take on a progressively nerdy bent once you get past the t-shirts. It peaks at getting replicas of Captain Kirk's original chair or an LCARS terminal, and you can even get a romantic evening on the deck with "complete privacy until the next morning" -- wink, wink. Outlandish? Maybe, but the project is getting official sponsors and has a shorter-term plan to get Captain Picard's chair ready for display by October. The whole bridge should be ready by late 2013. If you'd wished Paramount had preserved this piece of The Next Generation history for the ages, you now have your solution.
