Rolling in the Deep

The Titanic would have been a very different film if the ship had a Roll Tube. The device is a pretty inconspicuous looking contraption that holds multiple hydrophobic foam boards that expand and inflate on contact with water. Ideal for when many lives need to be saved. All you have to do is pull out the foam boards and throw them in the water. The moment they touch water, they puff up and become highly effective flotation devices.

The London Tube Transformed

PriestmanGoode’s concept for the New London Tube is inspired by contemporary London, its culture and architectural landmarks, and iconic British transport design. The walk-through train features air-cooled cars, digital screens for live updates, and wider doors for quicker turnaround. Natural finishes and materials in a palette of colors including charcoal, grey and oxblood were derived from looking at the heritage, architecture and landmarks of London. Watch the animation after the jump!

Bringing People on the Tube Together!

Tube Games are a clever addition to the London Underground that bring commuters together for a bit of fun! Adaptable to the single openable window of each carriage, users can meet in the middle to play games like tic-tac-toe. Moves are made by rubbing against the grain of the elasticated suede playing surface stretched between the two aluminum door clips. After playing, simply swipe the material for a clean slate. If nothing else, it’s a great way to encourage people to loosen up and have some fun on an otherwise stuffy commute!

Whether you’re an inventor, architect or other designer, after you’ve drawn up beautiful renders, the last thing you want to do is stuff them in an ugly cardboard tube! Inspired by this lack of aesthetically-pleasing storage, Arkitube was created as a functional and attractive way to carry architectural drafts, construction drawings or posters for presentation. Crafted from lightweight aluminum with an optional leather strap, it’s not only more stylish but more durable and weatherproof! Jump to the vid—>
