A Bathtub for Our Four-legged Friends!

If you’ve ever had to endure the undesirable task of washing a dog, you will be familiar with the inevitable struggle that occurs each time. However, for some individuals it also brings with it significant levels of physical discomfort and pain that is caused by bending down for prolonged periods of time. This is the exact issue that designer, Seung Hyo Lee, identified, and the solution came in the form of Bath Cradle.

Bath Cradle essentially creates a bathtub, within a bathtub; the dog-specific bathtub is elevated slightly to reduce the distance that the user has to reach down, while also providing a comfortable place for the dog to sit.

The design also includes a second feature, a seat just for the user! Just like the doggy-bathtub, it too spans the width of the bath and rests on the top. It provides a comfortable place for the user to sit as it takes the strain off their legs.

Flying Bathtub Drone: Rub-A-Dub-Dub, Six Rotors in a Tub

Well here’s a new one. Below are some videos of The Real Life Guys constructing and testing a manned hexacopter drone which happens to be made from a bathtub. You might ask yourself, why choose a bathtub? I say why not? The only things in the sky that get my attention these days are UFOs and people flying around in magic bathtubs.

The guy in the bathtub is not flying it by the way. That’s the other guy’s job. Since a flying bathtub seems pretty dangerous, I would want to drive if I were in it.

Weird and cool as seeing a flying bathtub is, they would get some serious bonus points if the thing was actually full of water and the guy was bathing. That’s what I really want to see flying over my head. Some guy just sudsing up and scrubbing his back as he waves down at me. Am I on drugs? No way to know for sure, but that’s not something you see everyday, so probably. Then when the guy is done bathing and soaking during his flight, he can just drain the tub and let the water go where it will.

These guys are some very cool You-tubbers. Am I right? Their next stunt involves a flying bed. Once they accomplish that feat, they plan to name themselves “Bed, Bath, and Beyond”, but they have to find a third member first.

I’ll be here all week.

Shower to Tub in Seconds!

inflatable_bathrub_01

The age of the micro-living is upon us and that means it’s time to get smart with space saving! The Inflatable Bathtub is one concept that maximizes micro-bathrooms with an innovative way to switch between shower and tub. With the press of a button, users can switch between their preferred method of bathing. In seconds, the unit expands to the size of a regular bathtub. When more space is needed, the unit can be left in “storage mode” in which users can operate the water controls to shower and enjoy a larger feeling bathroom!

The Inflatable Bathtub is a 2015 Red Dot Award : Design Concept winner.

Bathtub = Thinner than your iPad

xtend_bathtub_1

Yes. If you look hard enough on the internet, you’ll find the absurd. Now that’s not necessarily bad. Sometimes you’ll be surprised at how far you can go to redesign something you thought was done and over with. The Xtend is a portable bathtub. Yes. For people who want a luxurious bath experience while outdoors, the Xtend is a meager 7kgs heavy strip of metal that’s just 8.5mm. That’s 1mm thinner than your iPad. Never thought you could have a razor-thin bathtub, did you?

The Xtend, through clever design, opens up from a flat sheet into a full bathtub frame with a washable cloth lining on the inside. The legs, frame, cloth drapery, and even the attached faucet come together in a sleek (doesn’t get sleeker!) frame that you can carry anywhere. Just make sure you’ve got a water connection!

The Xtend is a recipient of the Red Dot Best of the Best award for the year 2015, and truly so, given its ingenious design and even more innovative design brief!

Bathe (and Work) Anywhere with This Inflatable Bathtub

You know you want this inflatable bathtub so you can turn it into your own wet office, like the woman in the image. As far as offices go, it looks super comfy. It’s about time we are able to bathe anywhere, and still get some work done.

Now that you have seen it, you know you want one. It goes by the name of the InTime Inflatable Bathtub. But this isn’t just any blow-up bathtub, no. It has a large work surface and even has a cupholder for your drink. Just make yourself at home and relax, although it doesn’t look big enough to do any actual bathing.

Why just use it in your home? Take it to the beach for a working vacation. It’s all good, until you get shriveled to like half your size… or you drop your laptop in the water. It’s only $180(USD) from Amazon.

Sexy Hollywood Bath

How about a sexy soak in a tub that has all the glitz and glam of Hollywood? The Xiuxi Bathtub has air injection device at the bottom that puts forth bubble bursts of water and friction that causes the anion to open pores of the skin cells. There is infrared light to stimulate cell tissues and enhance blood circulation. In short it’s a spa bath and treatment at home, at the fraction of the cost.

The specs include a Whirlpool pump to swirl the water for a pressure massage, speakers for music, mood lighting, Haptic function utilizing new technologies and auto temperature control. I love the transparent look of the tub.

Yin Yang Bathtub for Couples Keeps You Close, but Not Too Close

Tired of sharing your bath water with your significant other? Did you pee in the tub again? Why? Why do you do this to me? What is all that sludge floating in the water? How long has it been since you last bathed? Well, couples sharing a bathtub can be trouble and it keeps you both a little too close for comfort. Now there is this $55,000 Yin Yang Couple’s Bath bathtub that can solve your problems.

The beauty of it is that it’s actually two separate tubs so you can bathe together, but you know, stay the hell away too. It’s perfect for the relationship on the decline. A good step to take before the whole separate beds thing. It even features a soundwave massage and has colored lights in rainbow colors.

The whole concept is fairly creepy. What did you do today dear? I stayed the hell away from you, that’s what I did and I am continuing that trend right now. What did you do? I was in the big tub with the poolboy.

The Perfect Soak

The Andante offers a new paradigm of bathroom by offering a unique way to fill up the tub. Instead of using a traditional faucet, the tub fills up from the bottom, giving the effect of water permeating from the floor. Kinda like an ocean effect; something that me-likes!

Carbon Fiber Hammock Bathtub: Relax in Black

Nothing beats a nice, warm bath after a grueling day at work. I find it especially relaxing to just soak in the tub with a good book in hand, with soft music playing in the background.

Regular tubs work just fine, but taking the concept of relaxing baths just one step beyond is Splinter Works with their “Vessel” bathtub.

Vessel Bathtub

It’s an elongated, hammock-shaped carbon fiber bathtub that will supposedly provide you with the most relaxing and luxurious bathing experience you’ll ever have in your life.

It’s massive, so your existing bathroom needs to be large and roomy for this thing to fit.

Vessel Bathtub1

At 2.7m long, Vessel is longer than a regular bathtub, leaving plenty of room to share the experience. Custom sizes are available but it is also designed so that it can be trimmed up to 20 cm to allow for flexible installation. Pictured here in black, it also available in red, blue, yellow, pink, bronze and pure silver.

Vessel Bathtub2

You can find out more information about the Vessel here. Between its looks and materials, I can’t imagine this thing is cheap.
