This isn’t the first circuit board business card we’ve seen, but this one is more useful than others. Its maker, Saar Drimer calls it the Engineer’s Emergency Business Card. He makes a living from making circuit boards, so this was probably a piece of cake for him.
You can’t plug it into your computer, or even open a beer with it, like other cards we’ve seen. But not only does Saar’s card light up when current is applied to it, it’s cleverly designed so its two resistors, LED, NPN MOSFET, capacitor, and even a little extra bit of solder can be easily removed for emergency use.
When all hope is lost, the MacGyver engineer could snap out one of the components and save the day. Recall the countless times you desperately needed a 1 KOhm resistor to fix an amplifier at a party, only to see the girl you were trying to impress slip away with an OCaml programmer? Never again with this little kit. You even have 2 cm of solder in there to make sure the connection’s electrically solid!

Over on SocialBusinessCard you can generate business card designs patterned after three of the largest social networks are available: Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Creating your own personalized car using these designs is pretty easy. Just choose which one you want, link your actual social media account using the site’s app, and your card will be generated right after, using your digital profile as a starting point.
After editing the text on the card, you can then choose to upload the custom card design to your business card maker of your choice.
The most impressive part? Stephen just graduated high school, and already has launched several other successful online apps.

With all of the people we meet in business and our personal lives, sometimes it’s hard to leave a lasting impression. Sure, you could do something outlandish, like juggle kittens or something, but they’ll probably just think you’re nuts.
Instead, most of us just like to leave behind a calling card of some sort. But paper business cards are so easily buried in a drawer or tossed in the trash that they’re not that effective. What you need is the CallingCube.
This inventive object is a actually a calling card, printed onto a small cube using 3D printing technology. Just pick your color, provide text for the sides, your logo or graphic – and the designers at CallingCube will do the rest. Of course, you’ll get a proof of your design before they’re printed too.
They’re available in a variety of colors, and will definitely leave an impression wherever you leave them. I certainly wouldn’t throw away a business card this cool. It’d probably be sitting on my desk somewhere.
Keep in mind that CallingCubes aren’t exactly cheap. 20 of the suckers will set you back $99 (USD) – about $5 per cube – though there are substantial discounts for ordering more. An order of 240 cubes runs $799, which works out to about $3.32 per cube. They are also offering an additional $50 off orders of 80 or more cubes until March 1st, 2013. For 5 bucks, you can order a sample CallingCube to get a sense of how they feel in your hand.
That all said, you’ll still want to keep some cheap business cards around and save these for your most important contacts.
Business cards aren’t just useful for handing people your contact information. If you’re smart about it, then you can actually use them to help make and cement a good first impression unto others.
Take these business cards by design studio Under Consideration, for example.
They’re far from the typical business card in the sense that each card changes upon contact with your fingertips, lips, or whatever is warm enough to leave a permanent imprint. To make the cards, Under Consideration coated Fedrigoni/Ispira purezza paper cards with thermosensitive ink.
The cards were commissioned by Natalie Daniels, and they weren’t cheap to print. While it might seem that paying $985 for a thousand cards is a bit too much, it looks like it’s paying off since she’s getting tons of exposure because of her extremely unique cards.

Given all of the massive lawsuits going back and forth between Apple and Samsung, I’m still surprised that Apple uses any Samsung components in their devices. Still, until Apple can come up with alternative suppliers, they continue to be corporate frenemies for now. But I think the days of their partnership are numbered – as is the employment of this guy…
While I’m suspicious that this is just a bit of Photoshoppery, part of me really wants to believe there’s an Apple employee actually named “Sam Sung.” With over 50,000 employees, I suppose it’s possible, right? Heck, I wouldn’t be shocked if there was an “Andy Roid” and a “B. Lack Berry” on their payroll somewhere.

Do you recall those fancy business cards that took a design cue straight out of your adored Facebook Timeline? Well, the company behind such neat idea is now working on bringing cards equipped with NFC technology, which will allow folks to add things like email address, URLs and even pinpoint locations for easy access via any maps application. Of course, most of this information can already be shared using typical business cards, but one of the biggest pros with the Near Field Communication method will be the ability to change this info at any given time without having to purchase a whole new set. Moo plans on having the NFC-ready cards available to the masses by 2013 -- that said, the startup's currently running a beta program where it will allow 150,000 lucky folks get a complimentary card with their order of a traditional sheet. There's a video demo down below for you to check out, and you should probably act fast if you're looking to get one for yourself ahead of the extensive rollout.
