The ongoing pandemic is on a resurgence once again. If that means anything to our professional lives, we would be working from home for a long time still. Working from home has its own advantages but one of the biggest cons is the fact that you end up spending more hours on the couch completing your work – sans a proper home office setup that is. For the benefit of every working from home couch potato, recognized Portuguese designer João Teixeira has designed Brick Sofa that offers additional convenience while working.

For over a year now, we have been working from home. In the interim, if you have found the best corner to work out of, you may want to add a table or two from Teixeira’s collection. Otherwise, for some reason, the best I can guess being comfort; if you’re working from your sofa still – Teixeira’s Brick love seat with armrest attached in the center supporting a swivel shelf to place your equipment is by far the most practical option out there. The designer has also envisioned single-seater sofas that feature geometric design and promote upright posture while working.

Designed to enhance usability and convenience, the Brick is soft and modern in appearance and will integrate into any home interior and help residents enhance productivity. The swivel shelf is created to hold laptop, tablet and other equipment we use while working. This seamless approach also allows for the integration of the power supply to the armrest that doubles as a side table during your work from home activities.

Our living spaces have seen a lot of changes this past year, but none more than our work-from-home offices. Whether you’re still working from bed or if you’ve redesigned a corner of your bedroom to fit your desk, working from home has changed the spaces where we work. With that, we’re also scrubbing our walls and ditching any hint of maximalism for the fresh look of minimalism. To construct a desk that accommodates this mode of working from home while sticking to this renewed wave of minimalism, João Teixeira designed Loop Desk, a simple computer desk that’s built for the organizing nut in each of us.

The two-tiered desktop has plenty of working space and a slim build that easily adapts to any room, making it a solid choice for future WFH renovations. In addition to its slim build, Loop Desk reflects a minimalist aesthetic that feels more sophisticated than stylish or trendy. With rounded edges and a monitor stand that hovers above the main working space, Loop Desk was named for the various loops that comprise its full-frame. Computer monitors can be placed on Loop Desk’s tallest working tier, while a keyboard and any other working material can be organized on the desktop’s main working area.

The front drawer of the Loop Desk supplies some storage for lighter accessories like staplers and notebooks, while the backside reveals roomy storage pockets that can be used for rolled-up poster blueprints and hiding knots of cable and wires. Loop Desk can accommodate plenty of practical needs, while always maintaining a refined, suave look to tie up the loose ends of any home workspace. Loop Desk’s natural wood finish and clever storage options will feel right at home in any WFH office– whether it’s still in the bedroom or not.

By now we have all figured out a spot that works for us while we work from home. Since we had to practically adapt overnight, we didn’t have the chance to make our work corner ‘work’ for us – the right desk, chair, lighting, and perhaps a coffee machine? The new normal is seeing a big wave of change as more and more companies are letting employees work from home even after lockdown ends, so now we have the time to prepare and let us start with this Shelter desk!

The Shelter desk is a project that is coming to life because the designer was on a quest for the perfect desk. If you are someone who loves to have a clean, organized, clutter-free desk then this is the one for you! It was designed keeping in mind all the devices, wires, and accessories that live on our work stations, however, Shelter still remains minimal while maximizing the value of a desk. There are three slim drawers on the front side that are big enough to store your gadgets, like tablets or laptops. The back drawer was designed for you to hide all your cables and chargers. But the beauty of this desk lies in the curved drawers that give this desk its fluidity while retaining the functionality of the design.

“This is a personal project I wanted to develop for a long time, I’ve designed it with a minimal approach and dynamic lines aligning the angles of each component for better fluidity,” says the designer. The Shelter desk was created for organization addicts but the simple, warm design will make any interior enthusiast fall in love with this piece. This desk is the simplest yet most productive work from home furniture I have seen – no bells and whistles, just good design.
