Space Invaders Future Fossils Mean That We’ve Won

Check out these Space Invaders fossils. When they attacked in the ’80s, many a Space Invader was zapped and killed dead, falling to Earth only to become a fossil to be dug up by future generations. Well, these fossils have recently been unearthed and you can own one.

Etsy seller Throwingchicken created these cool Space Invader fossils that are the bones of our alien enemies. You can get the 10, 20 or 30 point alien skeleton.

After all of those aliens that I shot down, I knew I would be able to get a trophy eventually. These would look good in any retro game room or man cave.

This sweatshirt that looks like an ugly Christmas sweater is full of Space Invaders. Pew pew pew! I’m giving her all she’s got captain. The phaser blasts are flying, but they just keep marching and getting closer and faster. Looks like they have a UFO too. For some reason they don’t seem to be replacing their ranks as they are shot.

3D Arcade Mug Achieves a High Caffeine Score

As a child of the ’80s, I can remember spending a plethora of quarters in the arcade every chance I got. The one thing most of the games seemed to have in common was that joystick with the big red ball on the end. About the worst thing that could happen to an arcade gamer back in the day, other than the machine eating your quarter and not playing, was having a broken joystick.

If you too are a child of the ’80s, or just like arcade games, this is the coffee mug for you. It has the Space Invaders on the outside and the handle is a joystick with a big red ball on the end. Ironically, the original Space Invaders machine didn’t have a joystick at all – it had buttons to move left and right:

The mug has 16-ounce capacity and is made from ceramic. It measures 4.5″ tall and 6″ wide at the handle. Sadly, you can’t microwave it or put it in the dishwasher. The mug will set you back $12.99(USD) at ThinkGeek, or about the same amount you’d pump into an arcade machine in an afternoon.

Space Invaders Mandala: Arcade Nirvana

Screen print artist and 3D animator Olivier Marchand pays tribute to one of video gaming’s first hits by turning its 8-bit characters into parts of a mandala, a pattern often used to describe the wholeness of the universe or the impermanence of life. Stare into its concentric circles and imagine a world where aliens, laser cannons and bonus spaceships are one.

The print measures 18″ x 24″ and has been signed and numbered. I say the print because as of this writing there’s just one left on Olivier’s store as of this writing, so best head there now if you want it.

Space Invaders toilet paper holder is out of this world

We are lucky to live in a time where retro never goes out of style. Space Invaders now look at home everywhere, even in the bathrooms of your house thanks to the magic of 3d printing.

An Etsy user by the name of Taj Mahalo came up with this neat concept for 3-D printing enthusiasts with a soft spot for 80s gaming: a 3-D printed Space Invaders toilet paper holder that you can get for $20 USD. The holder sports the look of one of the many space invaders, but even though there will be only one in your bathroom, it will just remain static instead of going faster and faster until it makes you lose.

This is a 3D printed toilet paper holder. It’s shaped like a Space Invaders, the “PX361″ to be exact (yes, that’s its name, at least according to one website we found). It holds toilet paper, costs $20 and is made from both ABS and PLA plastic. And if you think there should be more to say about this product, then it’s really not for you.

These coasters make a very simple statement. If you don’t beat the Space Invaders, your ass is grass. And they are the cosmic lawnmower. Can’t beat the high score? Let’s face it, this game is turf. I have a million of ‘em… and they are all that bad.

On the other hand, these coasters are pretty cool. You don’t see the Space Invaders come in a grass version very often. These are the work of Etsy artist LoveFromCyprus.

These Space Invaders don’t even bother forming ranks. They all shoot solo from the grassy knoll. They measure approximately 5″(w) x 3″(h) and will keep your furniture free from damage – though you will now have a house full of aliens.
