Christmas is the season for holiday cheer and ugly Christmas sweaters. The latter is more like a running joke these days, with folks gifting friends, family, and loved ones with atrocious-looking sweaters that get a huge round of laughs the moment the presents are opened. Personally, ugly sweaters are starting to grow on me. Maybe I’ve just seen too much of them, but a lot of them look so bad and outrageous that they almost look good.

This time around, you can take on a more active role in creating an ugly Christmas sweater using Coke Zero’s ugly sweater generator. Once you’re done with your masterpiece (or loserpiece, because the uglier it is, the better), get your friends to vote on your design. If you land in the top 100, Coke will have someone knit your design and send it to you with their compliments.

You read that right, there’s no Shepard design. I think a Grunt and Wrex combo hoodie would’ve been great too. Perhaps if business takes off RetropopsugarUK will add more designs.

Freddy Kreuger Animated Sweater of Souls: Every Day is Halloween

I saw the first couple of Nightmare on Elm Street movies, but never actually made it to Nightmare on Elm Street IV. Apparently, in that movie, Freddy Kreuger makes a serious fashion statement, wearing a sweater filled with the souls of the dead. Now, you can wear the same get-up as Freddy, thanks to the fine folks at Morbid Enterprises.

Forget the sweater. I just love the idea of working for a company called Morbid Enterprises. Though the chest is pretty cool too – it makes horrible noises and the heads move around, moaning “why did he do this to us!?!??” Why, indeed.

The Chest of Souls is slated for release in the 3rd quarter of 2013, so you should be able to get one just in time for Halloween. Though I dare you to wear this to the office on any other day of the year.

Drew Wise Pixel Art Sweaters: Old Games, New Threads

People are going crazy for sweaters covered in prints. Some of them look really nice, but some of them are just best left as Photoshopped concepts. Pixel artist Drew Wise made several videogame designs so grown up gamers can get in on the fad too.

Full Body Sweater Looks Like Body Armor

If you are looking for more coverage than the average sweater provides, check out this full body sweater. It kinda looks like a suit of itchy armor. And from a distance it probably makes you look like a Sasquatch.

This full body “onesie” sweater designed for adults who want to be coddled like kids, and I don’t blame anyone for wearing this. I hate the cold so much that I would wear two of these. Forget using the bathroom though. I don’t see any easy way to do it.

However, since this image was taken in a bathroom, there must be an easy way to go besides completely undressing, right? I’m itching just looking at this thing.

Macy’s Shows off Sean John Sweater with OLED Display

Macy’s is talking up a very strange sweater that comes from men’s clothing designer Sean John. The sweater has a pocket in the sleeve that holds a small 2.8-inch OLED display device called the Video Name Tag.

The video screen itself has an internal rechargeable battery and promises roughly 6 hours of use per charge. The screen has a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, and measures 2 3/8″ (W) x 1 3/4″ (H) x 3/8″ (D). The on-board media player also has 2 GB of internal memory for storing photos for a slideshow or short video clips. The display is removable allowing users to clean the sweater.

The display-packing sweater is available now in select Macy’s store locations around the country. Pricing for the sweater and display is unknown.

Clothing for Gadgets: Play Dress-Up with Your iPad

When I’m done using my laptop, I stow it away in a sleeve printed with zebra stripes all over. The sleeve looks pretty beat up from months and months of use, but I just haven’t found the time to look for another one that would appeal to my taste. But I don’t think I can say no to these handsome outfits, cut and re-sewn especially and specifically for laptops and iPads.

Laptop OutfitThese are the brainchild of Richard, who owns Finders and Keeper’s. He basically puts together an outfit (presumably from his old clothes), custom tailors them to fit your notebook or iPad, then lines it with soft organic cotton to make sure your gadget stays safe and snug inside.

Pretty fun, right? I never thought I’d see the day when we’d actually get to dress up iPads and laptops as we would dress up our nephews or sons. (Not that I have any children yet.)

This line of computerwear (as Richard calls them) is available from his Etsy shop, where they range in price from $55 to $75(USD).
